After doing a scandal because "NRk is trying to make keiino win over Gate !!!" ....

NRK messed up with Gate - there's not doubt about it.
The EBU approved the lyrics and NRK demanded them to change them a week before the final.

The draw is good, though. No doubt.

I somehow learnt to love "My AI" - it's a bop and catchy as hell but PLEASE NORWAY... DO. NOT. SEND. IT. TO. MALMÖ.

You've got some seriously high-quality entries in that NF (Gåte, the country duet) to choose from (even the songs by Mia, Margaret, etc).
We've got enough fallen angles, wolves with bananas lately.

But not sure it's really just up to us. And I don't just mean juries either. With Erika Norwich having 100K + followers on TikTok it's likely some of the diehards will manage to register as voters. I don't think the registration process is that strict at all. Just install an app and send off your 5 votes or whatever.

At the end of the day, i'm not worried for Norway at all. If Gate, Keiino, Gothminister or Super Rob & Erika win, i'll be a very happy man and Norway will continue to dominate the entire north in my book. :giggle:
I also like Margaret but the bookies say she's chanceless.

This is not true though. There were two issues with Ulveham: the intro and the verses.

The Intro (the lokk you hear at the beginning), becauses it is a sample from a different singer (her name is Marit Jensen Lillebuen), probably around 100 years old. This is what NRK send to the EBU. The EBU said it's fine, so Gåte don't have to change it.

And then the verses, because they use a 1000+ years old ballad. We simply do not have any Info about this being approved by EBU or not. We only know about the intro.

The timing sucks, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's simply incompetence instead of malice. Gåte themselves said NRK just erred on the side of caution, and they got good running order spots twice. I doubt NRK is rigging it against them (I'm not saying they're not playing favorites at all, but I simply don't see how they're against Gåte).

(PS: yes, I'm a former lurker who just registered to point this out because the repeated misunderstanding annoyed me. No, I don't even like NRK, and Gåte are my faves too 😅)

I dont know how many will actually believe what I am about to say, but it is actually 100% true - I am a distant relative of Marit Jensen Lillebuen :giggle: xheya

^^ Where did you get that information from?

I'm just curious - because Eurovoix and Co. just wrote that "the original lyrics have been approved".
That's very interesting what you've pointed out, though.

Once from reddit (here) where someone translated the original atticle, and then from ESCKompakt as well (here).

It seems the original article wasn't worded in the best way, because there was a lot of confusion about in a lot of places 😅

Personally, I'd rather the My AI song not win. The song is not without fun, but the robot vocals are a flat no from me.

Given her reaction at the semifinal and what came out on social media afterwards, I'd also be a bit worried at the possibility that she didn't have full knowledge of the mental/emotional intensity of the Eurovision experience when she decided to go for it. On the other hand learning that did help me appreciate the song better, as it feels now to me less like a 'let's hype AI up song' and more like it really is only specifically about the unconditional emotional support via a robot companion some people would benefit from having.

Really, really like Gåte and if they don't go to Eurovision at least I've found them here so I can check them out further. I found myself being reminded of Fulenn (which I loved) for whatever reason. For me they are my top fave with Keiino second and Miia third.

Quite like Miia. The camerawork was already working the stage like it was Eurovision and if you correctly guessed what the graphics would be you'd probably have a good idea of the Eurovision staging if it were to win. Would benefit from some more use of backing vocals at points, although I totally respect wanting to go the open and vulnerable route if that is the artistic choice being made.

Gothminister I find a little too repetitive, but I enjoy the gothy camp fun. I would be okay with it if it pulled a win from out of nowhere.

I respect the country duo. I don't know how much I would like it or not as I have only seen the performance in Norweigian. Personally, I find for country music my ability to enjoy it hinges on my understanding and connecting with the lyrics, unlike other genres.

Waltz of Death was a guilty pleasure and the kind of thing that you could show to someone out-of-context and claim it was on the Eurovision stage in the 1990s and or the 2000s and a lot of people would believe you. Wish they had lace curtains or something instead of the plastic sheets or whatever it used though. It would had fit the weird soap opera-esque atmosphere better.

Personally would have had Mileo qualify over Super Rob and Erika.

Vidar Villa was pleasant but I could not shake the feeling that this performance was like if Lake Malawi were to travel back in time from a future where they had moved to Norway. The staging reminded me of them too much.

As for Keiino, yes, like others have expressed I don't find it as good as Spirit in the Sky or Monument and I totally get how some would find this off-putting, but for me it works. Their performance wins me over.

I don't what Damdiggida means. The thought randomly struck me when listening, 'I hope it isn't a sexually-transmitted infection,' and while I know that isn't true, imagining that Damdiggida meant something like herpes made the performance a helluva lot more entertaining for me. It works surprisingly well with the rest of the lyrics, too.

I think this happened because of Quagmire from Family Guy.

Damdiggidam is written to be an earworm, and it's kind of hilarious that ''My AI'', which is way more of a low effort song, is about twice as catchy as Damdiggidam. I also feel like Keiino is going for low hanging fruit, their other two entries had heart to them while this song is just a cheap yet nice party banger. If you're going to make it to the top in Eurovision you have to push your artistry to another level rather than just stay in your comfort zone.

I really don't get Ulvehamn, it's just noise with some Norwegian mythology sprinkles on top of it. I never expect anything from Norway these days though

I want Gothminister to win with all my being. I really like his gimmick and stage presence. He is charismatic as hell, also a pretty decent singer and the song has the potential to become a Eurovision classic if it gets to Malmö.

However, it certainly wouldn't be easy for him with KEiiNO, Gäte and the Robot there. I wouldn't be that disappointed, with either one of them winning, with KEiiNO as my firm second favorite. Alexandra absolutely murdered those vocals at the semi-final, the song sounded almost like a studio version.

It will be a quality show.

Great stuff from Norway this year. Much, much better than the vast majority of the other national selections.

I can't wait for Saturday.

Ulveham with updated lyrics:

No surprise that it sounds just as awesome as before. Now fingers crossed the changed lyrics will not affect Gunnhild and she'll slay just like she did in the semi xheart

Also, KEiiNO did an AMA on reddit, and were asked if Damdiggida has a meaning or if it's 'gibberish'. It's actually sami and translates to "this thing here", as in "my heart tells me this is what I want" in regards to the lyrics. Makes me like the song more tbh =D
