I'm glad that CHAiLD is auditioning again.
He simply had an absolutely horrible entry last time. It didn't suit his voice at all - I just hope that the jury/RTL won't be pushing other songs on him again since I think that he could really bring something great onto the Eurovision stage.

Krick was nice, for sure. I can't wait to see see/hear if her vocals have become even better this time.

The full line-up

More about the artists in the link below. Zero Point Five look the most interesting to me.

So no Krick, CHAiLD or Naomi Ayé this time around. Well hopefully the songs are an improvement on 2024 at least.

A shame they cut it down to 7 contestants this year.
Also disappointed that they selected One Last Time again - but I suppose that was to be expected, seeing that one of the band members works for RTL (and I think two others have also freelanced for RTL in the past…)
Would have preferred to see others than them from last year get another chance…

Of course, I'm waiting for the songs but from all participants from last year they chose the two with the most boring songs xD
Let's hope they can truly shine this time!

Songs have been released this morning (live report: https://www.rtl.lu/kultur/news/a/2251553.html)
  1. Rafa Ela - NO THANK YOU. You'll be surprised (not) to see this song has got two Swedish producers (Christoffer Jonsson and Johan Jämtberg). I've got reminiscences of the first Mello Klara Hammarström song "Nobody".
  2. ZERO POINT FIVE - Ride. Taking the folk path, it sounds like a Melodi Grand Prix reject. Not bad per se, but not really impactful. And, yep, there's a Norwegian producer (Jonas Holteberg Jensen) in this writing camp song!
  3. Laura Thorn - La Poupée Monte Le Son. 60 years ago, Luxembourg won the contest thanks to "Poupée de cire, Poupée de Son" by France Gall. This track is openly inspired by this success but, let's keep it short, it will not win in Basel. Even not in Luxembourg: the song is a bit childish and the production sounds 2010.
  4. One Last Time - Gambler's Song. A bit rougher than their 2024 effort. Needs some revamping effort as the first pre-chorus (can it be called this way?) is really lazy, but it may work. But don't expect a top 10 with this!
  5. MÄNA - Human Eyes. Don't really know what to think on this one. It could have been a Mariette reject, but it also gives me Lorde vibes. Possible grower.
  6. Luzac - Je danse. Linda Dale ("The Code") is part of it. Once again a strange pre-chorus and some useless rhythmic hiccups, but it has some energy. It would have finished 3rd/4th during a (good) Destination Eurovision edition (rip).
  7. Rhythmic Soulwave - Stronger. It can flop as well as it can work really well. Not so far from Hooverphonic territory.
The three last tracks of this bunch are clearly the most interesting ones, while Rafa Ela is sending some stereotyped but efficient girlbop.
