Re: LITHUANIA 2018

Yes our dear Lithuania tricked us, they gave us the hits to follow the NF and now they want us in tears

I fear winner will be one of Ieva, Monika, Jurgis ... don't like any of them xgaah

Yeah, i'm not into any of them either. We were tricked! There were seven or eight songs I would have loved, and six of them were still in the running up until tonight. Nine weeks for a dull ballad or poundshop David Lindgren? Nein danke.

If we could replace some potential jurymembers in the final with ourselves... that would be magical xheat

I lost two of my faves here Silvija & GeraiGerai and Godo!

Only Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė is IN! But with small number of televotes.. :(

I strongly hope Monika Marija - "The Truth" and Saulės kliošas - "Įkvėpk ir nepaleisk (Man gaila)" will easily qualify next week and have chance to win the ticket for Lisbon!

I'm really loving The Roop. They're so extra! He has a cool a bit feminine voice. :) Would love to see a song like this at Eurovision, but I'm not really sure if it'd qualify..

But for my personal taste, it's good!

I leave it up to Rainy.

"Stupid fellow gentlemen, GeraiGerai & Silvija are the best! ...oh sorry, do I have to write down points in here?"

Re: LITHUANIA 2018

Meanwhile I will start posting random stuff to make this more lively:

The exotic backing singer's of Kotryna's origins:

Kotryna performing 'That Girl' live for a radiostation that plays quite a lot of inconvenient but cool club music/some alt rock once in a while:

Kotryna in the Lithuanian 'Your Face Sounds Familiar' (LastDreamer's favourite Lithuanian TV show)

As Kotryna used to sing in a jazz band before winning Lietuvos Balsas, here's... probably a piece of some non-pop stuff she performed in the past (way after her Lietuvos Balsas victory):

A completely non-Eurovision song by Kotryna:

Her covering a song by the band Foje (Andrius Mamontovas from LT United is the leader of that one) in a competition for the best Lithuanian song of its century of existence:

To not be completely pro-Kotryna, you can have some Paula too :D

From humble beginnings (Jurgis Brūzga's band, Avenue Acoustic):

This isn't Vaidotas's (The Roop) first Lithuanian Eurovision selection :D He took part for the first time 9 years ago, back then when our format was the most revolutionary, in a duet with Karina Krysko (from 69 Danguje) and back when he was still known as Milan(n)o. The break he took between this and the band was to find himself and what he turly wants to do in life.

If you want to hear better stuff than that pastel mess of a staging from Ofelija, have a listen to these:

OK I'll stop before these begin violating our browsers...

Actually for the first time Vaidotas from The Roop participated in Eurovision national selection back in 2002 with duo called "Kosmo" :) But I guess Vaidotas by himself would like to forget that experience :) You can check their performance here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFH6nCltEP4 (~16min)

Regarding The Roop, I'm rooting for them this year, just like majority of people as much as I noticed, but got a feeling that jury just won't let them win by pushing them down in their ranking as much as possible. Obviously their darling is Bruzga for some reason. I really can't stand Uzkalnis, but yesterday he said some harsh, but right things about most participants

Makes sense for him to want to forget that  Finding yourself takes time. One year you want to do this, another year your get bored of doing this and move onto something else... not to mention, someone here (maybe you?) even named him as an Omega member  at least he finally found himself after so many years, that's admirable xlove

Someone please send Zilnys the Hungarian entry so that he could realize that about every entry can be Eurovision-worthy, no matter the genre ;) Must not be obligatorily alternative, but still, an example. We should follow their example by not being too much safe ;) so please no Brūzga or Zasimauskaitė.

I was appalled inside when Užkalnis came on, but dang, this man is right on most of the entries (though he was a little too harsh on Kotryna, the ESCUNITED's darling). Someone please suggest him to be on LRT jury please :D (unless he rates Ieva uptop as well then no thank you).

Also a random trivia: I saw him in Vilnius Book Fair last year, on Thursday. It was unbelievable just to see him, honestly.

Yeah, that was me who wrote about his time in Omega :) If I recall correctly, he was in duo with Andrius Bravo back then, a guy who later sang famous party song "Tu buciavai, sakei mane kad myli" :D They had couple ok songs, but the rest were silly pop tracks. That probably should be expected when you are produced by Zvonkus and Liesis  Anyway project didn't last long. In some 2001-2002 Vaidotas founded "Kosmo", while "Omega" continued with Ruslanas Kirilkinas and that trashy smash hit of 2001 "Tu mano mergyte" I liked some of his songs under Milano nickname, that duo you posted with Karina Krysko, also with Nijole Pareigyte, some solo tracks. Indeed, step by step he moved to the right direction. Even if jury will find a way to keep him away from Lisbon, The Roop already made a name for themselves

Andrius Užkalnis is a well-known laughing stock correspondent on the newspaper Lietuvos Rytas and its Tuesday magazine called Stilius where he talks of restaurant experience and some other shit. In our selection he commented all the Semi 1 songs after hearing them for the first time.

let's translate the clips he played:

Gabrielius Vagelis's song reminded him of the usual Balkan variety stuff, those types of songs do not win Eurovision. It felt like a snoozefest track for him.
This one was about GeraiGerai & Silvija: Some vocal line (idk how to properly translate that) was criticized for being too simple and in his opinion the audience of that day would appreciate such vocal line. It should be much more simple, candy-like, and that way is a good way.
Kotryna I think: mixture of disco and soul music / this kind of music is not awaited by fans in Eurovision, they're rather waiting for something more European than a failed Beyoncé copy.

The dude wanted to ask the broadcaster why was Andrius invited in the first place to mock the contestants. He's complaining that Andrius has no education(?) in music whatsoever, and he's just a journalist. He was disappointed that Andrius mocked everyone (not quite though imo) and that in the selection we shall be supportive of each other. Then he complains that Beyoncé has never done R&B like the one of Kotryna's song's. Also he wondered since when he's a stylist and a choreographer:

(another clip plays, these were comments for The Roop): There's a lot going on the stage during this performance / the choreography went nowhere, the clothing (my note: he was especially refering to the pants) looked like this, something needs to be changed in there

Then the guy joked he couldn't dance salsa or waltz without stepping on a dumpling that fell out of his pocket (he once had a brand of his own dumplings being sold until the selling of the product was cancelled because of a terrible smell). He then stated that it doesn't matter what our opinion is about his talking into the camera, it's just that he's sad that we're living in such country. And there is one more thing: he is much younger than Užkalnis and he believes Užkalnis should politely teach the young people of how to behave in society or something, but now it's the young people and the young musicians in this selection that have to teach HIM about what's going on, how to behave properly and how to respect each other. Then he quite reinstated what he said earlier and played another clip, about Godo this time:

"It's a national North Korean song and dance performance. Absolutely a non-Eurovision thing. *a pause for him to let out a couple of sounds*"

And maybe this was for Jurgis: "Not a memorable enough song so that I could excuse such choreography."

The boy then says that people's reactions to his words were positive. He read a 15min.lt article the other day and generalized the comments like 'ooh Užkalnis is a great man, he should have a spot in the jury instead of those 4 other people because he's great!' He then noted that these people in the actual jury are actual professional people. Esp. Ramūnas Zilnys who understands music well. His life is based on that. And he says genuine and on-point comments about all the bad and the good stuff about the song and what it means. And then comes in Užkalnis, who sweeps everything away with his negative view on everything.

This person ends the video by telling us the viewers to think about all of this once again. And once again highlighted that Andrius's words were outright bullying.

e: What makes this rant special is that it's done by Deividas Bendžius, Kotryna's manager. And a Delfi.lt article was written about it. :D

omgggggg nooooo waaaaay  I thought that "Tu bučiavai" was a song by Išjunk Šviesą

lmao these B'avarija guys at first were really silly and fun people :D I imagine their supposed Eurovision 2002 entry being in a similar vein.

Anyway yeah I guess. Back in the day when I saw their name posted on another forum in a list of people who're (possibly) entering the NF this year I didn't even know what the hell was that of a band. Until our selection. Until Heat 6. If I said that I fell in love with their entry to my... idk, September-December 2017 self?, she'd probably stare at me with a puzzled look  I love falling in love with songs that way: looking at the titles of the songs and thinking to myself, "literally who?" until I hear the songs and get blown away! Never thought I'd find an act that I was skeptical about before because I didn't hear their music yet even my favourite this year. Just w o w.

Meanwhile, the 2nd semi promo is out:

Not a single clip of Monika Marija  while The Roop get another one while not even being in this semi anymore  LRT YOU GOT SOME 'SPLAININ' TO DO MMKAY

And now, a random video of the day in this thread:

This woman used to host a charity TV show where ppl and companies donate money to various bad situations to get fixed. I described it terribly though so I won't mind if AlcOtraz and Lietuvis back me up on this one ;)

rough translation what they said to each other:

Edita: So you have a 12 years difference between each other...
Marius: It's actually fun, my wife is very young.
Edita: Oh wow, how do you feel about your husband being very old?
*Ieva laughs*

This episode also featured Gytis Ivanauskas, whom you probably remember from last year as Lolita Zero btw ;)

Re: LITHUANIA 2018

sorry for 3rd post but:

Not only was Kotryna's manager d i s g u s t e d about the allowance of Andrius Užkalnis on national TV just to 'bully' every single contestant. She posted her piece of mind about it herself. She finds it terrible Lithuania is one of the countries that tolerates bullying (so much for schools endorsing people not to bully ).

Slay, our rolemodel! First you lashed out on girls who just try to be sexy as part of their image(?), and now this! Kotryna for president

Re: LITHUANIA 2018

On my next installment of random video week, have a look at Marija's X Factor Lithuania audition where she just so happened to perform on the auditions after they were over and people from the audience were asked to sing something if they'd like to:

https://play.tv3.lt/programos/x-faktorius/765175

Something other on studio than her Eurovision entry:

I felt like I cheated out a contestant by not posting anyone from semi 2 on the first day of my random video week but then I remembered I posted Paula's new song before her Eurovision selection song came out. Whatever though, have two of them today anyway :D As I just want to post this Monika Marija's rendition of "Je suis malade", one of my favourite songs of my music teacher's:

That high note though! xheat

And that's it for today before I am accused of spamming this thread unnecessarily. I'm just giving everyone a piece of every semifinalist that they've done before their 2018 NF endeavours tbh
