Re: LITHUANIA 2018

"More Than You Know" music video has just been released.

I'm infatuated so hard with this song. That studio version somehow even gave me goosebumps at the end. Absolute eargasm. I'd love you forever and ever if you made this your Eurovision entry this year Lithuania. I can't stop listening to it and the thing has pretty much been in my head all day long for weeks now. It's the most interesting and rewarding song from any selection. And It's official now... my favourite song of Eurovision 2018's NF season: More Than You Know. I hope the public support continues to grow and the jury realize what they've got here exactly. Absolutely wondrous song. I need to check out GeraiGerai's other music if he's capable of producing something like this, and Silvija too as her voice is awesome!

Greta Zazza "Broken Shadows" 4484
Ruta Loop "Positive Thoughts" 3928

They won the online wildcard round.

Now we are waiting to see who is in the 1st semi and who is in the 2nd semi.

Both semis will be with 7 songs.

It will be again on the borderline of qualification... It depends with whom they will be in the semi...they were 7th overall in the previous heats with televoting...

They need very high score from the jury in the semifinal..

I actually fear i'm going to come away from this NF feeling extremely disappointed. So many songs I love and they're all still in the running, but how are they going to win when they're getting 600-800 votes and there have been songs going over 2000? The Roop I do like though and would accept as a consolation prize if none of my big favourites can win.

But jury can kill everybody....

This one got the highest number of votes and 0 from jury in the heats, it is in semi, but jury will kill it:

7 Marija "This Love" televoting 2722 = 12 + jury 0 = 12

Re: LITHUANIA 2018

It all depends on how and where the songs will be drawn. But I can bet that in both semis Ruta Loop would end her NF journey regardless. And with no jury votes revealed only after the televote period, it will be harder to guess who has accumulated the most simcards for the week, as Marija's fans were likely devastated by the jury zero so they upvoted her hella high so she could at least qualify. But with the capacity of 7 in her semi and the capabilities of jury... oh boy would that be a fuckfest. We once had an act in 2013 who got totally polar opposite opinions from jury and televoters in their heat (3 vs. 12) who only ended 4th - not too far from qualification but a proof that the jury still can screw things for their own way so much so that the fans would not be able to do anything to get her through.

I have a couple of questions for our Lithuanian users BernadetteCydonia and Lietuvis

I don't follow your selection (it's very long and quite complicated for me), but I'm curious about it since it has a unique structure in the European scene.

How is Eurovision treated in your country? I mean, by the audience AND by the artists.

Is "Eurovizijos dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka" a successful tv show? I tried to find tv ratings somewhere but I didn't succeed.

Do you think your broadcaster enter Eurovision with the actual goal to win the contest?

How the hell did this get 7 points in the televote?

These guys are popular in Lithuania with our older audience it seems. Grandmas sure love to receive simcards from their grandchildren just so they could vote.

Eurovision is pretty popular in Lithuania. But it's not taken very seriously. A lot of people think it's a joke, but they still tune in to watch. Artists are even more snobby, a lot of really good Lithuanian artists don't even bother qualifying. But this might also be due to the selection process we have. I think the broadcaster is non-partial, whoever people/jury decide the winner is, so be it. The big problem is that a lot of jury members are unqualified/incompetent when it comes down to music, but their vote has a huge impact. Combine that with a relatively small talent pool we have, and it really limits our competitiveness when it comes down to providing a potential contender song for the Eurovision.

Re: LITHUANIA 2018

Krishoes, I know these were answered by Lietuvis already but I'll give my own shot at these questions on how do I think. :D

How is Eurovision treated in your country? I mean, by the audience AND by the artists.

Audience... idk about audience reacting to Eurovision but I would always lurk through comment sections only to find our people usually finding some blatant opportunity to get out their Russian propaganda and call each others "vatniks". There's always bash to whatever we choose, either it was too obvious of a choice or some random act won again thanks to our 'precious' jury... and it's true because our jury's winner in each selection heat usually ends up as the winner of the show for the week since our 2016 format (except for a couple exceptions such as Lolita Zero winning once thanks to televoting last year and Monika Marija surging up top on the televote top straight after her performing the song and winning heat 4 this year) and it's barely possible to do something about it because juries over-influence the televoting and makes us vote for their favourites so that we could have a clear winner in the final show... :p your fault for adapting to jury votes guys. why didn't you simcard revolt last year? huh? And after Eurovision, if our entry qualifies, that makes our nation's gentlemen to cheer for their entrant for at least 2 more days and if we do well - hooray. If we flop, both in semi and final, our people foulmouth our contestants for doing so terribly. That's the truth that won't set you free tbh. :/

Artists: some are sweet in front of video interviews and bitchy on online/newspaper interviews if their result goes sour (Mia this year, ahem), some are sweet all the time. Selection-wise. Eurovision-wise... I haven't heard anyone openly criticizing the contest that much lol.

Is "Eurovizijos dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka" a successful tv show? I tried to find tv ratings somewhere but I didn't succeed.

According to our HoD, yes it is. People do watch it.

Do you think your broadcaster enter Eurovision with the actual goal to win the contest?

I am not quite even sure anymore... I think they're at least happy to have had their country qualified.

When will we know the semi running order?

idk either...

Don't you have a public or private company in Lithuania which analyzes and publishes tv ratings daily?

Yeah sure: http://www.tns.lt/ :D

Their ratings used to be posted in a TV guide, "TV Antena", but that was years ago and nowadays the bitch fight between TV3 and LNK (other two big Lithuanian channels) is more important than whatever else any other channels air. xD

I have another question for y'all if y'all don't mind. There seems to be a certain level of mistrust among y'all about the selection process (references to shady practices like SIM card hoarding, VPN use, etc.). Am I misreading that? And if I'm not, where does that come from?

I knew lead singer from his past works in group called Omega

that makes me laugh harder at his past musical career while deep inside still feeling sorry for him because of all that depression occurance. I'm confuddled. :?

BTW, wasn't Ruslanas Kirilkinas (LT NF 2010; 2016) a bigger star in that band anyway?

Well it's not like we're the only country in whose NFs the simcards are getting abused. They don't seem to be that much of an ordeal to me because each act can only have max. 5 televotes from one number, and if you divide numbers like 2400 by 5 you get 480, an average that could be received by an act that later gets 3-1 in the televoting points result. Meanwhile in Latvia this year, if their numbers of televoting are through the roof, THEN we could suspect simcard abuse (because they will allow only 1 vote to 1 act per phone, and that means you only vote for your favourite once and no other lesser favourite gets a chance to be voted by you).

while yes technically there are quite a few simcard abuse examples (*cough* Marija *cough* her Lithuanian fans shouldn't be aware of what amount of points does jury give her in order to vote and pretend that she will 'qualify' on her own *cough* not hating but this will soon get outta hand if it keeps happening *cough* *cough*). but that doesn't mean there are too many simcards out there in Lithuania that were bought :p

Re: LITHUANIA 2018

I agree with Krishoes, the selection is too long and sometimes without a logical sense! This is a useless show, too many episodes and then the jury lets win a bad song!
Last year I would never leave win Fusedmarc, I still wonder how they won, I would have given the victory to Aiste, Gabrielius, Paula or Greta Zazza.
This year will end up like 2017, will win a song that will not go to the final... This is a very strange selection, the "good" songs are 4 or 5 maybe, the others are strange, flat or useless! I say this with interest towards your country, because every country should send the best song to Eurovision.

I listened to the songs in the semifinal and those that I would see well to the eurovision are few, I refer to:
- Paula very pop song, she is beautiful, sing and dance together really well and enrich the scene with some man dancers
- Monika Marija with a powerful staging (lights, wind, back vocalist etc)
- Gabrielius Vagelis sings really well, the song should be strengthened but please change the hairstyle
- Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė like Czech Republic 2018 but please she should change clothing with one more suited to the genre of the song and the dance is not good

All the other songs are very flat, out in the semifinal of ESC, out of context and irrecoverable. BernadetteCydonia Lietuvis
