Rizzotto is hardly a Latvian surname. Well, she probably has one Latvian grandparent. Whatever. She has said that she had worked with Jennifer Lopez. Her song still has no soul. I hope for Madara to win.

P.S. Jury has said that there will be an additional wild card. Markus hasn't got a wild card, he has passed to the final due to a technical mistake in voting.

Madara losing out to literally any other song in this selection would be a greater robbery then Margaret and Loreen multiplied by Norma John, Mei Finegold and Greta Salome. The performance may not be perfect, but for small countries like Latvia, especially in such a stacked semi as they find themselves this year, there is not really any choice if they want to do well in this kind of competition- they have to pick something that stands out, and Esamiba is the only one that will do so. Think about how 'Love Injected' compared to 'Angel in Disguise' and 'Line'- none even come close to being terrible songs, but the former brought something new and exciting and was rewarded for it while the latter two were just decent takes on well-established formulas and lost out for it. I feel the same way about Funny Girl- I don't hate the song, but I could turn on the radio here and easily find 20 songs that do the indie-alternative 'I'm weird, nobody gets me' vibe better. Because of that I'd struggle to see it doing any better than 15th in the Semi.

Okay so I've actually gone back and reconsidered my opinions at the time, and right now Funny Girl has gone into a very solid second place behind Esamiba. I'm still really hoping for the latter, because I have no idea how long it will be before we get another quality Latvian-language song in the competition. However, if Laura were to make it I wouldn't be surprised to see her get to the final at least- I still think the song isn't quite daring enough to challenge for the top ten, and I find her vocals a little flat (actually a big negative for a song that really needs an emotional delivery), but the staging is pretty much perfect and I'm sure Laura could work on her vocals for Lisbon.

Every song other than those two can just go die in a pit.

I have some mixed feelings about this Laura Rizotto (no pun intended). On the surface it seems that she has everything you need. Good looks, good voice and a decent song. But she seems so fake. I really want my brothers to select Madara.

So, I just listened to all the songs. Latvia has a great final here, I actually liked all 8 songs which is something rare.

However, MADARA and "Esamiba" really really stands out. The song is so mystical, so pacific, so heavenly, it's truly beautiful. Honestly if I imagine what angels would listen to in paradise, it would definitely be this kind of new age music (Cheesy, I know). It just leaves me feeling so optimistic and happy when it's over! A truly beautiful song.
I think it can do great in the contest too. It has a similar feel to Randajad, even though it's in a more pacific feel good tone instead of a dramatic dark one. Like that one, it would not only be a contender for my #1 in 2018, but for my all time #1, I think.

Still, I wouldn't be upset if Laura wins with "Funny girl". I really love the soul vibe in that song, and Laura has such a great charisma on stage. True star quality there. However, if anyone else wins, I'd be upset. Not that they're bad, but they definitely would be terrible winners against these two. I wish Latvia could just choose "Esamiba" and send "Funny girl" to another country

I listened all the songs for first time...Laura is great singer but her song is just ok....
I also like This time but his staging has absolutely nothing although the sing has the potential for a good staging....
So i will prefer Laura to go to Lisbon!!!
