Surprised no one has put up this annual thread yet.

Who will win the fictitious Kate Ryan award? That is the song that's expected to do well but completely flops in the semis (or final), and usually by a young female singer.

One of the Nordic lasses (:dk:, and :fi:) seem the obvious candidates for me.

I don't think  will flop but I have a feeling :dk: could be a contender...and depending on the juries mood :de:

Slovenia got the fictitious award last year.

This year, I think it'll be  or :dk: or both

:dk: and :sm:,could it be any more obvious? Also the Dutch song might not go down as well with the European public (at least the bookies now should overestimate its chances).

hardly overrated by fans, will strugle to qualify and ends up around 20th place in Final!
But I guess a qualification is important & possible for San Marino!

Unfortunately I feel :fi: is more like the opposite, a dark hose. Especially casual male viewers might get lured by this backwards garbage.

I guess the Netherlands. They will qualify but will linger around the 21-26 places... then again, it could do a 'Suus'.

:sm: could be a Kate Ryan too but let's face it, do people REALLY believe they can qualify?

Why do people write Germany as the Kate Ryan of 2013?? Kate Ryan is the one that is a favourite to qualify, but fails to do so!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression the "honor" goes to a song that is considered highly popular that flopped when it counted. I thought qualification wasn't really a factor here. If that's the case then yes, Germany obviously wouldn't apply
