Those of you who participated in the SF 2 LL "after party" may recall that I complained about the lack of real musical variety in compared to other countries. When I exclude heavy metal, all I really have is popular music, which includes the hip hop music that I tend to avoid. After some thought, I have decided that I am better suited to be the juror of a region with which I would not have to conform to the mainstream musical culture of the country in which it is located.

I spent much of the past weekend collecting music from a region. This is a region that I have visited in real life. I always knew that the region had a good variety of music, but I was greatly impressed by the songs that I have found in various music genres. Some of the songs in my regional playlist are among the most interesting songs that I have heard, none of which I would expect to hear on a commercial radio station here in the US. This is the type of region that I would enjoy regardless of the results. Therefore, I am confident that I will be serving this region for a long time.

And now, I make the declaration.
