The results were just not right. All the cover finalists didn't deserve their status: Chiara, Lara, Annalisa and Nina made much better covers tbh.

My favourite covers were Lara Fabian and Anna Tatangelo, I thought they did ok with decent songs. The Annalisa version of Ti Sento didn't do much for me, the original simply is way better, same for Se Telefonando I feel. Nina did ok, not sure the song was that great though.

Meanwhile...

Lara Fabian participation in Sanremo lead to a huuuge bashing in France. This made headlines of media websites, saying : Look, that has-been even failed to represent Italy in that tacky show !
And it was also said yesterday in the biggest talk-show.

And yet, that poor Lara just went to Sanremo, not to take part in Eurovision... But now she's heavily laughed at. :?

Nowadays, media are assholes. What kind of real journalist can think San Remo was meant for Eurovision? Seriously. It's easy to write "articles", you just have to write what you think is true without any investigation on the subject matter.

Lara is seen as Belgian, French media usually talk about her to criticize and that's what they did a few days ago. No one cares about San Remo in France but they needed to highlight the fact that she got a bad result there. Her "attempt" to represent Italy this year is pure nonsense, she stated in various interviews that she already participated in Eurovision and that she would refuse to do it a second time.

This is a current favourite to win?..... well, I'm sure it will end up high thanks to the juries, middle aged women and teenage girls, but I'm also sure it won't win.

That said, I had to change my points from 4 to 6 because it has grown on me and is now my guilty pleasure of the year. Still can't figure out if the music video is a joke or not, but it's hilarious nonetheless.

I think middle aged women and teenage girls are the most dedicated and reliable voters when it comes to televoting

I guess that's true... but I think we are yet to see something more eye-popping that will steal the attention and the televotes from this. It looks and sounds too "easy" to be a winner. I hope at least....

Something else more eye popping definitely could come ;) Although judging from what has already been picked and the other national final songs that we have heard I have yet to hear it xshrug

Either way I don't even think we are half way through the song selections yet and a few big hitters have yet to make news so there is time

I think that Italy has it in the bag (always talking about songs that have been chosen until now). The song is just too strong and you don't have to hear it twice to realise how strong it is. The voices are superb, the harmonies excellent...unless the staging is really horrible or they change something in the song before the final (ala France 2011), I can't see how Italy can lose...it's what the world expects from an Italian song..and there are many Italian music lovers in Europe.

I agree with most of this, except the song wasn't instant for me at all. All I heard was a very standard composition with some nice harmonies and good looking boys. But then again instant couldn't be said about "Rise Like a Phoenix", so maybe the "Italian-ness" of this song is enough to charm it all the way to the top xshrug

Sure this is the most predictable song from Italy, but it's defiantly the strongest. Don't fix what isn't broken. I can see this song easily winning because it's 3 Italian men that can sing opera AND are handsome? Well I just heard the sound of every female and gay guy swoon their votes to Italy. Also, it's a really strong and uplifting song. Unless they throw a France 2011, and REALLY REALLY screw up, then this is definitely top 3. It's a little too early for it to be OMG WINNAR but lets see what happens between now and May
