Italy is my number one, all-time favorite Eurovision country when it comes to their 1956-1997 entries. I think I love 90% of them, or more. xlove xlove Since their return in 2011, I have been nothing but disappointed year after year, as I haven't enjoyed any of the 2011-2014 entries. :( This is why I am so stoked Italy finally sent a great song this year! :D It's perhaps not my favorite entry this year, but it's definitely in my top ten! Well done, Italy! xbow

And Harrogate!

Harrogate is lovely place and well-deserving of the Eurovision Song Contest. Although I'm buggered if I know if there's anywhere big enough for it these days!

My personal ranking (I like all the songs, actually):

1 L'essenziale
2 L'amore è femmina
3 Grande amore
4 La mia città
5 Madness of love

We are agreeing on one point, that 2011 and 2014 is the worst since your return ;)

Although I don't like Emma at all, I think that La mia città was nice and radio friendly but gosh, absolutely no good for the Eurovision stage and it's a shame 'cause in her discography she has plenty of songs perfect for this contest.

I think instead that Madness of love has got quality, actually a good song (but we know that we came second for a specific reason...), but I'm not into this genre of music at all :D

Is this true?

RAI May Drop Semi Final 1
http://eurovoix.com/2015/05/14/italy-rai-may-drop-semi-final-1/

According to Eurofestival News, RAI may not broadcast the first semi final on Rai 4 live. The final of the Italian Cup is scheduled to take place next Tuesday earlier than previously announced, this means that The Voice of Italy will also be moved to a later slot which will clash with the first semi final. RAI is expected by Eurofestival to opt not to broadcast the semi final live to avoid splitting its audience.

I was watching the 2011 final yesterday, and Raphael gave a polished, professional performance but I'm still surprised a niche song like that could finish second! Deserved, but certainly few people saw that one coming!

What a coincidence, I was watching the same final too  And what a voting! At the beginning we were in serious trouble XD

I stopped at the last song as I got tired, but I remember Italy lingering at the bottom - my friends kept saying that Italy will do well, and I was like "yeah right..." - with my favourites flopping that year.

Still, a better winner than Azerbaijan.

I never saw it coming either but was totally blown away by his wonderful performance. I would have loved Italy to have won that year, best Italian entry so far for me. Last year was great also, but the performance was horrible on every level. Nina Zilli also promised a lot, but failed to deliver. I'm still mad Per Sempre got ditched in the end. What a song and performance in San Remo!

From the last 5 years, apart from Il Volo, I also love 'L'essenziale' - amazing on so many levels.

It's better if I don't remember...
