CONFIRMED: IRELAND'S QUALIFICATION DROUGHT TO END NEXT YEAR
RTÉ have confirmed that our qualification drought is going to end in Lisbon next year. Having not qualified for a final since 2013, Ireland will almost certainly qualify for the final, with Irish Eurovision fans being advised to book tickets for hotels, transport, and the contest itself, inclusive of the 12 May, the date of the final. This is due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Ophelia to Ireland, which will blow the small Atlantic island onto the European continent, landing somewhere between Slovakia and Hungary. Due to this relocation of the country, it is expected that neighbour voting will guarantee a swathe of 12 Points for the republic, bring to an end an embarrassing chapter in Irish Eurovision history.
