I thought they could make it, cause the performance was perfect. And this song has grown on me a lot recently. I'm happy to see them in the final, it's totally deserved. :)

I think we all know why. And I'm saying this as an LGBT person.

IMO that also means that Russia will qualify as well, for the same reason as Ireland.

Funny that in this case there are comments like: "he qualified only for the gay dancers", whereas I don't read anywhere in the case of Lithuania: "she only qualified because of her husband being on stage".

People stop hating him. He beat Greece, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belgium. I think this is an objective Proof that he deserved it.

I could say the exact opposite!

um, everyone always deserves it. the voice of the televote and the jury are final. if people liked it, they liked it and that's it.

but that will NEVER stop me from wishing it was different and being incredibly obnoxious about it!!!!! RYAN GO AWAY

I didn't even know this guy was her husband. It wasn't explicitely clear and it's not political.

Eurovision has big gay following and that is the only reason this song has qualified. Had San Marino included a gay couple dancing in their performance, they would definitely qualify too. This song ain't no 'Rise Like a Phoenix' - it's weak and so is the singer.

Not really, one Country from SF2 has Potential to become the most undeserved Qualifier in the history :D :D

Gosh you're right. I swear, even Ireland would make a better winner than Norway! I used to love Rybak, but his song is atrocious this year.

I wasn't into this song before tonight's performance but now I'm totally digging it!! For me it's not so much about the dancer, it was the whole concept that convinced me. It gave me Calm after the Storm vibes because of the intimate staging. I think many people felt the same way and it might have done surprisingly well in the televote after (also because of the good starting position) all....

I can see this being in the top 10 if they get a good position in 2nd half...

Ireland I believe passed because of the "gimmick" (I wish I didn't have to call it as such but in this current climate it is). The audience and their wild screams as the two men appear on the bridge confirm that there are other powers at play besides the actual music, because Christ, the song is..... well, I don't even know what the song is. It's just there. At the very least I don't feel offended by it, and i'm happy to see Ireland back in the final, but it's annoying that it's at the expense of more deserving songs, cause that's what it should be about, the songs.

You know, in 2014 we had a really good song which was imo a more deserving winner than the actual winner, who purely won because of a 'gimmick' of putting on a dress while wearing a beard at the same time. That song wasn't anything special either. At least I can relate to Irelands 'LGBT' message to a far greater extend than I ever could with Conchita Wurst's drag queen act. The same people who were screaming their lungs out when she won are now the biggest complainers on Ireland using 'Gay dancers' to qualify (not saying you are).

It's Eurovision, staging is a big part in order to do well. Just ask Russia 2016 or Sweden in general. To what extend is something a gimmick anyway? You can accusse half of the participants this evening of using gimmicks (Finland, Israel, Belarus, Estonia). In the end the song imo is good, the singing was flawless and the staging was atmospheric and very well done, so a deserved qualifier. Yes some other acts also deserved to go through, but this has been called the 'semi-final of death' for a reason...

Cute performance and staging saw this through. I still think the song is too watery (a bit like UK this year) but the whole package was what elevated this. It was a toss-up between this and Austria for my #10 spot for tonight and Austria just edged this with the better song ;)

Didn't like the song or the show, but a huge "RESPECT" to Irish people for still watching ESC after all these years of failures.

Ireland deserved a qualification as a prize for not quitting the contest.
