If Ireland doesn't qualify in 2014 then RTÉ will be under serious pressure to catch up with the rest of Europe (even the BBC)

It'll be the 50th anniversary since we debuted in Napoli!! You know what that means? No, not a proper national final, or even a few extra programs dedicated to the history of the greatest country at the contest. No, it means a slideshow of all of our past entries and probably one of them will be taken out of storage for The Late Late Show Eurosong Special 2015!

We will never learn....

I really hope not. Thinking about it, we haven't had someone with strong vocals since Niamh Kavanagh (the second time :p)

I think going into Eurovision 2015 I'll be far more critical of potential entries. No point hoping for the best if I'm not completely blown away by it, because that's what it takes. When Israel can DNQ with a great performance like they had on Thursday night you know "so-so" certainly isn't going to cut it.

More than anything I would like if we sent something high quality, but not necessarily Eurovision friendly. (Looking at who qualified this week I think Eurovision friendly isn't quite so friendly anymore.) We need to take the whole package more seriously and not have song writing just based on trying to make (copy) a pop hit or doing Eurovision by numbers.

Of course it would be a start if we had our own national final. Would be great to have an online wildcard selection too.

So many requests. So little hope.

It's a miracle!

Exciting to see what will come of this. I do agree that if we have a separate national final we should have a decent sized stage, when we're voting on the late late show the stage is so tiny and the audio so poor we have no idea what it'll look or sound like on the Eurovision stage.

It can't cost that much for a decent sized stage can it? At least a basic one.

The O2 and The Helix are the first ones that jump into my mind that RTÉ have used in the past. But whether we're going to have audiences as big as at MelFest or as at Songvakeppni, there's an abundance of arenas and opera houses and theatres in this country to be used, from the O2 to Róisín Dubh to the INEC to the Wexford Opera House to Athlone Little Theatre. RTÉ have no excuse to use their own little studios

Jay! Ireland go! I'm very happy that Ireland is showing such sportmanship, already analyzing what went wrong and figuring out how to improve their chances.^^

I hope so too, but I won't hold my breath until more details are finalised and announced. I mean there were such hopes last year when it was announced that RTÉ attended the workshop on NFs in Germany and when RTÉ said they'd take a new approach to the Late Late or something, and we just got the same pissy Tubridyfestivalen again.
