How does the voting work?
That's a pretty good question. The last time when I did a big NF few months ago I got the impression that the winner song received its big points from users who weren't really enthusiastic about the NF in general whereas the second or third place song received their big points from people who really appreciated the song. In conclusion, I noticed a weak point in the point system so I thought about creating a new system.
So here we go: You got a full amount of
10 points that you can
distribute to the four songs in (almost) every possible configuration. This system is less rigid and much more precise than the regular point systems. Only restriction:
You gotta give every song at least one point.
Following some examples
Example I
You like song 1 a bit more then song 2, which you like a bit more than song 3, which you like a bit more than song 4
You might vote like this:
Song 1 =
4 points
Song 2 =
3 points
Song 3 =
2 points
Song 4 =
1 point
Probably that's the „standard“ way of voting
Example II
You adore Song 1 or at least you like it much more than the other 3 songs
You might vote like this:
Song 1 =
7 p.
Song 2 =
1 p.
Song 3 =
1 p.
Song 4 =
1 p.
Example III
You like Song 1 & Song 2 the most whereas you dont like 3 & 4
Song 1 =
4 p.
Song 2 =
4 p.
Song 3 =
1 p.
Song 4 =
1 p.
Example IV
You like three songs in the same way but the Song 4 doesnt convince you that much
Song 1 =
3 p.
Song 2 =
3 p.
Song 3 =
3 p.
Song 4 =
1 p.
I hope you understood the principle. As I wrote, you are
free to shift the points the way you like. Just be sure that every song got at least 1 point and that you dont give more than 10 points in total.
I take it for granted that you will „spend“ all your 10 points that are available. Actually I don't mind if you spend
only 9 points. There are configurations in which this might be even better to express your opinion in the most accurate way.
Provided that you give 4 points to Song 1 and 3 points to Song 2 (like in Example Nr. I) you have still three points to allocate. However, for you Song 3 and Song 4 are at the same level, so in that case you can also give 1 point to both. Consequently your points configuration will be
4-3-1-1 instead of 4-3-2-1. This is fine for me.
There isn't a real deadline yet, because there is still much time. I will set a deadline during the next days.

I have just managed to push through all 3 songs Esma style and voted.
I was really happy to listen to these three songs. I wasn't expecting to like them as I do struggle with a lot of singer-songwriter stuff being produced today, usually myself preferring a stripped back, rawer form of folk, but these were quite beautiful I must say, and I think they could do well for you.
