Söngvakeppnin 190: Flop Artists Edition


Welcome to my first Söngvakeppnin since - I had to look this up - edition 128. Secret NFs not included. As announced in the previous post this NF has a theme which is "Flop Artists". I want to give a second chance to some of my artists that failed to make the final in the past hoping they can eventually redeem themselves. Despite their tragic failures I know that some of these artists definitely have fans here in the community and I am excited to see what you think of the selection and of the songs.
Regarding the music I promise you nostalgic and jangly downtempo pop, pop rock, electronica, indie-folk, dark electronic and an experimental piece. One of the songs was included in a NF before

Just rate every song from (utter shit) to (masterpiece).
Should be needless to say but since it's based on ESC voting there are no 9 or 11 points.
Please don't carelessly give away 10 and 12 points if it's not really worth it for you. If there is no 10 or 12 worthy song in your view I still happily receive votings with the best song on 6 or 7 points or whatever.
On the other hand I ask you to not vote tactically even if you have a strong favorite by giving me a 12-0-0-0-0-0 voting. Even if it's tempting sometimes. Because if you give 0 points to a song it means to me that you hate it with passion.

WV 190: aYia - New Moon

With a total number of 102 points including two and three "New Moon" by aYia won my Söngvakeppnin of former flop artists. At some point it looked like it would win comfortably until Marios and James votings came in and pushed Apparat Organ Quartet forward and made the whole thing tense again. In the end this is however a worthy win.
I am happy that aYia won because it's one of the two artists in the selection of which I prefer the NF song over their WV song I had sent before. The other one is GusGus (srsly, Unfinished Symphony is so addicting)

You wonder why there is a video on YouTube with spanish lyrics? So did I in the beginning therefore I did research and found out the song was featured in a Spanish teen drama series called "Élite". It's super bizarre since aYia is rather an obscure artist and not even particulary known in Iceland. Imagine there is a guy working in a series production who is as much of an freaky insider of Icelandic music as I am... my brother-of-a-spanish-mother. I get goosebumps.
