I seriously hope whoever Iceland chooses keeps their song in Icelandic when they go to Vienna, it's such a gorgeous and musical language, I just love it xlove

At least Maria and Elin won't, they have said so.

I think María should, Elín is making the right choice, but I think the icelandic lyrics aren't good, I believe she should change it. And apparently, the songs are supposed to be performed in the language they will use if they win "Söngvakeppnin", so we might see a lot of changes next weekend

Interesting, to a non-Icelandic person, the Icelandic version of Elin's song sounds beautiful! I'll be interested to hear how it sounds in English.

Well "No Prejudice" was meant to be Icelandic, but it was still changed.

Actually, the rules in Söngvakeppnin is that the songs must have an Icelandic lyrics and have to be performed that way in the semi final. Then you can change it. They always talked about letting John Grant translating the lyrics and it was in process while the finals of last year was on.

Sorry, I meant that María should change, and Elín should keep it in Icelandic. I might not have made that clear

I checked the interviews and it seems that most of the finalists would change the language if they win.

My top 7 would be something like this, I think any of the first 3 would be a good choice.

1. Elin Sif
2. Sunday
3. Maria
*
4. Cadem
5. Haukur
6. Fridrik
*
7. Björn xpuke

I think Sunday didn't work live at all, I found it lame to be honest, so I hope and think it won't win. :(

It will be between Elin and Maria in the end I feel with a slight advantage for Elin. But who knows, I have a feeling Iceland may shock and pick CADEM.

It could be anyone, Friðrik Dór and Björn og félagar might win because they are big names in Iceland, Elín could win because of the charming personality and performance, CADEM might win because of kids, teenage girls and certain eurovision fans that want to see Einar ágúst in his skirt again, SUNDAY might win because it stands out from the others music wise, María might win because of her voice and Haukur might win because his lyrics will most likely be changed to english and that will be a big game changer.

So it just dawned on me: "Lítil skref" is the best in a landslide compared to everything except "Fjaðdrir," which it still surpasses.

Will the songs be in English in the final (if they choose to do so) or only for the 2 finalists, like it was last year? I haven't seen changes in the rules, but still I think I understood Daniel Oliver correctly in an interview with him, that they would be singing it in English in the final and with a different dance routine. I'm sure he is not that cocky to assume beforehand that he will be one of the final acts....

I think "Fjaðrir" by SUNDAY is a quirky and interesting electro-pop song, but it just won't have the mass appeal of something like "Euphoria"... I love it but don't think the wider audience will "get' it... reminds me a little of Margaret Berger's "I Feed You My Love" (Norway 2013), which yes managed 4th, but again I think had more "mass appeal"...

"Milljón Augnablik" by Haukur Heiðar Hauksson really sticks in your head. The piano is good and when they do the little 15 second re-caps it stands out. I think if this won the national selection it could do well... I just worry that the song doesn't have the right singer?

My choice, by far, would be María Ólafsdóttir's "Lítil Skref". Yes, possibly dangerously close to Emmelie de Forest, but I think it has a real chance. She can sing really well too. it a great, sweet song that would be popular with a wider audience...

The rest? Well... for me, none of them are really any good. Certainly not winning material.

OK, so that is a new rule, since all songs were in Icelandic in the final last year, and it was only the 2 finalists that sang in English. That's a good change.

I know what you mean, but the exact same thing was said about "Euphoria" and "I Feed You My Love" before they went to Eurovision and slayed.

"The masses won't get it, they will think it's weird, it's not Eurovision material yada, yada, yada..."

I don't believe "unusual" entries do bad, because people don't like them. They just have an idea about what a Eurovision-song should sound like, and don't care to expand this idea, and maybe even break it by voting for these kind of songs, because "Eurovision is Eurovision and it has to stay that way". But actually I think Eurovision could be so much more interesting and modern if people just let it be.
And it's heading in that direction in recent years, with more "unusual" songs doing well.

That's fantastic! Í kvöld sounds so sweet in Icelandic and I don't want to lose its essence. xlove

I hope Björn og Félagar not win because it's the worst song in the competition by far.
