He will stand out with his staging. The stage looks tragic and old fashioned.

It's so hard for the Big5 to build up momentum after the semifinals. Why can't they perform their songs live during the show as interval acts? He is fading again in the odds.

Why Fading? He is still on 15.

What about :fr:? It still places 3rd or 4th in the odds, whereas it didn't perform yet. :p

I'm looking more at Top 10 odds because winning odds aren't that great for lower placings.

They were "lucky" (obviously it is deserved because it's a good entry) that they were on the radar before the contest began though. But can you imagine Lithuania rising in the odds like they did and getting all this attention now in case they would be prequalified?

A lot of ballads in the final. Almost all of them. Seems people like to continue the trend of liking pure, slow, emotional songs.

It will be very hard for Michael, because with Lithuania, Ireland, Portugal and Spain there are really good (depending on what you like) heart-wrenching songs. Given that maybe Montenegro qualifies as well, we have six real ballads of that kind in the final.

Not counting Austria, Bulgaria etc. as ballads because they're slow pop songs to me.

Guess it will be hard for Michael. In ESC everything can happen as we experienced last night. But it would be nice for us to be placed around 15. But I am ready to be surprised. :lol:xlove

There's just so many variables in the Eurovision voting, it's very hard to predict something. So many things that can affect the success of a performance: draw, promotion before the contest, target demographic of the song and how actively that demographic votes in these contests, songs before and after you, diaspora and neighbour voting, quality of the song, quality of the live performance, the charisma of the vocalist etc. etc.

Im pretty sure Spain, UK, Finland and Albania wont beat Michael, so 23rd is already safe. Semi2 will also bring some qualifiers who will end up below Michael. So Top20 wil it be at least.

I think we'll end up as 15th at least. If Michael can connect to the audience and they connect with the song and its story, I think we could even enter the Top10. But that's a big if. It's just all depending on the night. When I watched the performances yesterday, I felt like Michael's staging looked more professional and more high quality than many others. I don't think people will only vote for Lithuania, Germany or Ireland. The songs are so different and their stagings are completely opposite as well. Just because their slow, doesn't mean that they steal each other's points  I'm hoping for the best and I also have a good feeling that Michael will make us proud xlove

Oh god I'm so afraid of ending up bottom 5 again, but we wouldn't deserve it this year  Ireland and Lithuania are doing pretty well on iTunes, and we don't have the momentum on our side right now... Would we have qualified from yesterday's semifinal? :? It's an emotional rollercoaster this year

But something tells me we will finish #18 or #19.

I have these concerns too. Sometimes the way People vote is not so predictable. But I hope the best for him on Saturday!

Ireland didn't have its momentum until yesterday evening. Everything can happen. I think many people will connect with Michael and his story. And then he will have his momentum

Yeah you're right, but this year is so unpredictable anyway  I'm just mentally preparing for another bottom 5 result, while I'm personally rooting for the best result since 2012

Really looking forward to the full performance video on thursday xlove

Me too! All I know is that his voice is always on spot, he can capture hearts, the staging (from what we could see so far) is outstanding, but let's see if that is enough.

I just watched an interview with him on German broadcaster. He is asked how he feels about Germany coming last in the past years and he says "It doesn't matter which country you are competing for, Germany or Russia".

Optimism on top :D

No offence, but does Michael really think that the lyrics being displayed on a veil (or whatsoever) while he's performing will help him get more votes in the same way as Italy? People won't focus on the singer nor the performance itself if they're being disturbed and distracted by these gigantic lyrics behind or beside the performer(s).

Afaik, :pt: didn't need any lyrics on the screen or whatever last year in order to win, thus why would :de: or :it: need this specific feature? I mean, you don't need to understand the inner message of a song in order to be fond of an entry..
