Just added all the different combined ranks together and calculated the average rank:
17.53, so probably rank 17 or 18 :(

[Ofc you can't really take this as a "real result", but it shows again that Ann Sophie didnt make a bad impression at all in Europe]

I did the same right now  Actually she would have ended up 19th (and 16th in Televoting, 22th in Juryvoting) if you take the ranking. With just missing out the Top 10 all the time, but nearly never doing totally bad, the 12-point-voting structure lead to a worse result than the "average opinion". Other countries got a few times into Top 10 and therefore got some points.

Combined Voting

1 Sweden 2,538

16 Slovenia 15,947
17 Armenia 16,737
18 Lithuania 17,079
19 Montenegro 17,211

But this is no criticism to the voting system, the 12 points are a essential part of Eurovision. We were just very unlucky this time. Never be constantly average for everyone

You didn't give them even 1 point xhand

Neither did Germany

I was going to watch True Blood 1 hour ago but I can't stop listening to Black Smoke, I replay over and over again, that's why I can't watch it.
There were way too much songs to get 0 point in final such as Hungary, France, Greece, Montenegro, Poland, Spain, Albania (I don't count Armenia because of Georgia's obvious 12 pointer). This one is at least 5 times better than those countries' songs. I can't get Europe at all. xshrug

Germany doesn't have the diaspora/bloc votes to ensure it will always get some votes (even if it does poorly). I love the song, and I preferred Ann Sophie's national's performance. If she had worn the dress on her cd cover and just sang it alone (with a retro looking mic), it would've worked better than the staging they selected.

Here is a very entertaining article about the ESC from "Spiegel Online":
http://www.spiegel.de/kultur/musik/eurovision-song-contest-2015-viel-zu-harmoniebesoffen-a-1035371.html
It is in German and contains many "metaphorical" expressions, so it is too hard for me to translate. Maybe it's overall a little too negative, but I laughed out loud several times. Two examples:
About Ann Sophie's performance:
Die Punktenull stand bis zum Ende, was nach Ann Sophies Auftritt doch zumindest ein bisschen verwundert, weil sie die Perfomance gut meisterte: mit bratschenförmigen Poppesschwenkern, sehr passablem Gesang und schwarzem Federohrring, als sei das eine Kriegstrophäe, die sie der georgischen Düsterkrähen-Warriorin ausgerupft hatte.
And some annotations about Latvia, Estonia and Norway:

I'm also very surprised that there is almost no shitstorm about Ann Sophie :) (Newspapers)
The main problem (I think) is that a country with the 11th position in televoting and juryvoting would also just get 0 points.... Even if it's missing the top 10 by one place.

It's almost just luck :/

Ok, I'll do a detailed review of the song later but I must say "Black Smoke" is a great song! I love it! xheart I'm glad that your former winner gave up, his song was much less interesting to me.

Ann Sophie was fantastic and the final performance was so sexy, groovy and fun. It does not sound Eurovisiony at all and it has character. Germany, you'll be in my top 10 this year. xcheer

No need to say I don't understand your zero points xthink I can't explain it really. So many wrong things in the voting this year.

Maybe we should consider that having 27 entries makes a bit harder. The ratio of a country geting no points shifted vom 1:1,6 to 1:1,7. Or in different words: We were 11th in four countries. Without Australia, we would have been 10th in most of them. Ok, 3 or 4 points would also not be great and I don't blame Australia for doing so well. ;)

It's hilarious that people surprised when this got null points. You had to choose an interesting act such as Laing, not a jazzy Lena copy coming after a creepy loser.

To be honest, I see no Lena connection at all :(
(Unlike the connection between Golorious and Euphoria 2013 >. <)

I can totally see the Lena connection! And yet I don't see the Euphoria and Glorious connection - go figure

Either way this didn't deserve 0 points, but it was probably just too "nice" for any more... xshrug

The Austrian 0 was also a huge shock for me, but this one xshock

Indeed, I didn't like this song as much as I liked some previous :de: songs, but it was somewhere in the middle of my rankings and I thought it will end somewhere in the middle too. The performance was quite good, and after it finished I even thought it could sneak into the top 10. The end result left me speechless.

Truly undeserved.

I'm surprised how good I can handle this 0 points. I know that it didn't happen because it was a bad song but rather because it was a year with a strong Top 10 (and the current ranking system doesn't support the middle-of-the-road-songs)
Ann Sophie gave her best - it was a very cool performance. She knows that, we know that.
I think this case makes something very clear: In a Final with almost 30 participants it's just not enough to give points to each countries Top 10.(that makes only 37% of 27 participants) Maybe one should think of adding 9 and 11 points.

Like The Makemakes, at least Ann Sophie took her "nul points" with good humor and made her own "Zeroes" video
https://www.facebook.com/annsophiemusic/videos/1140322479326735/

OMG that video is the best! What a good sport :D xheart

I agree with the others up there.... the Top Ten was REALLY strong, in fact the calibre just seemed to be higher than last year. I don't remember ever liking so many songs?! I thought Romania would have done better than it did, as well.

It sucks, but glad Ann Sophie hasn't taken it to heart and she seems to have a lot of support :) I voted for the song once (there were others I liked more). I had a feeling it wouldn't finish highly but I didn't expect nul points.

Actually I voted for Laing and I even bought me their music. But the majority of the German audience seems not to be qualified to pick a good song. I thing Ann Sophie was still better than Andreas Kümmert with in boring rock ballard. But more than 75% voted for him. LOL

This to me is exactly how you should look at it. When the scoring rewards only those in the top you need to actually be among them and Germany wasn't. But they certainly didn't make a fool of themselves and it was a decent entry that in pretty much any other year would definitely have scored at least a few points here and there.
