Ann Sophie has finally managed to cross the 7.0 average mark in the forum poll. Since the NF she has been slowly but almost constantly climbing. Currently 17th in the list.

It may be a little late to ask but I just got the news that actual winner was Andreas Kümmert and he withdrew. Why did he do that? Afterall, Unser Song Für Österreich was made to represent Germany at Eurovision, it was not just an ordinary song contest?

He's got some serious mental problems as far as I know.

What makes you say that :?: From a certain point of view practically everyone of us has mental problems in one form or the other.

I'm more thinking of a clinically manifested mental illness (which is/seems the case with Andreas) but of course you are right to a certain extend.

Well, sociophobia is a clinically manifested mental illness, but there are loads of people in a modern society suffering from it and successfully arranging themselves with it somehow. The problem for Andreas is that he picked a passion as well as an occupation where it really causes severe complications. For him off-stage means off-duty, where he can recover, but the audience does not accept it. They do not want him as a singer, they want him as a pop star. It goes beyond his power.

I don't know about that and I will not judge anything but for me it seems like he has the wrong management/friends. They know that he has those problems but still they aren't saying anything? Very irresponsible. Now he has enough time to "recover" since the audience isn't expecting anything of him anymore - He is the asshole for almost a whole nation .... I just don't get his friends and family ... how could they let all this happen?

Very often the family is the cause of sociophobia, not the solution. From what I know his family is socially lower-class. And he seems to be a rather small man, too, which often creates additional problems (girls, mobbing in school etc.).

GermanBango, I respect you. You would do me a favour by stopping to consider Andreas an "asshole". He (or his management) has done a stupid mistake, no doubt, but with the outstanding vocal talent he is I view his entire situation as a personal tragedy. I deeply pity him.

Did you have to bring that up again? Now I have to cry.
And by the way, listen to "Frozen Silence" by Fahrenhaidt. They were kicked out in round 1 of the national final. THAT is ESC top 10 material! *sigh*

Please not the same discussion like right after the contest. ;) I think Ann Sophie is a person, for who you don't have to shame for, and now I'm excited for her 1st rehearsal.
