Re: GERMANY 2013

Ben Ivory and Die Priests are amazing in different ways, but since the outcomes of most national finals this year have disappointed me (in particular Norway and Finland), I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm already preparing myself for the terror of the Cascada-hype.

Why edit?? Did you call me fat and changed your mind??? I know you did......

There's going to be a big outrage no matter who wins. If Cascada wins, the "haters" will bash the choice calling it unoriginal and boring. If anybody but Cascada wins the big fan base of that band will go mad not picking the best song with the "biggest winning potential". Either way, I can't wait for Thursday night. I'll make sure to have my popcorn and hope we'll have some major ESCUNITED jello wrestling

Re: GERMANY 2013

I edited my post because I was asking for the livestream link to the show... but then discovered the show was NOT tonight (sondern am Donnerstag). I didn't call you fat. (but are you?? just curious)

That picture...at first glance I thought: oh something German and 'pawny'.

Some Winterspeck can't do much harm by the way, it could freeze in CA one day due to the climate imbalances caused by global warming etc. etc.

Nah, i always accuse people of calling me fat when they delete a post, speak in a language I don't understand, whisper....etc. It's fun, you should try it sometime. And no I'm not overweight.
And no, I wouldn't post something like that in a 13+ area.

"Not overweight" doesn't necessarily mean "not fat". What is your body mass index?

Re: GERMANY 2013

Is Betty Dittrich a big deal in Germany?
No, or at least, not that I'm aware of. I'd never heard of her before this.

My favourites this year are Mia Diekow (I'd really like us to send a German song again and "Lieblingslied" is cute) and LaBrassBanda. People seem to underestimate the latter, but from what I've seen they're a great live band (exhibit 1, exhibit 2) and they're definitely original. The main problem with sending them would probably be that they wouldn't be allowed to play their instruments live, which I imagine would subtract from their performance.

I'm not a Cascada fan, but I could live with their song winning. ;)

Re: GERMANY 2013

@Matt: We can be sure that at least here in Germany, many people will say "Our entry has no chance!", no matter who's winning. I guess there were even more haters than lovers when Lena appeared back then
But actually its so sad that it seems to be impossible for the people here to stand behind their entry or at least to wait if it does well or not. But here everybody starts to grump even if the bookmarkers would say "Germany has a 99% chance of winning!", they would keep on doing it. So, I don't really care about haters, especially not when it is about Cascada - I'm just used to it

Re: GERMANY 2013

I was surprised that Sonne manheims were famous or considered as a possible favorite because theur song has nothing. As we say in france, it enters an ear and go back through the other !
I agree, their song is pretty bad. They have had some pretty good songs in the past, but this one just isn't it. It probably also doesn't help that their most famous member, Xavier Naidoo, isn't taking part.

These are two of their better-known songs:

Re: GERMANY 2013

Betty Ditrich really ??? She's boring. And Lalala, seriously... Oh her 60s hype annoys me enormously !

I like the song, it's my 2nd favorite, but I'm a bit annoyed by people who dismiss "One Last Kiss" from the Greek selection supporting this. The sound is the same (swing-jazzy-pop). So, Germany can do it, but Greece can't? Because Greece must send songs that have bouzouki and lyra always, and never something that sounds a bit "western" as they call it? It's a wannabe because it sounds like that? Like western countries have the exclusive right to send such songs!

Cascada is the most strategic choice by the way. There is no possible debate. Their song is an outstanding tune, like it or not ! :) Even if it's not the most original or artistic or anything else song.

This sums up everything I think too. Since when dance songs must be original? And what is original anyway? Just because Euphoria won last year, then everything "dance/trance" in ESC from now on will be called "Euphoria rip-off"

Re: GERMANY 2013

So is the starting order with Söhne Mannheims & Cascada at the end the official one now?! Well, then it's obvious that the NDR wants Cascada to win... :(

OK, these are good songs ! ;-) So it's a pity they sent this very bad thing...
