It's not so much about diaspora in Moldova's case, more that there is a bloc connection, but like I wrote also they sent entries that stood out and qualified fair and square on their own merits.

Macedonia has been more jumpy in quality, but I can't agree with you that if this fails it will be based on the quality of the song, because I think that if this song would be sent by "stronger countries", we would have it as a certain qualifier.

Well, Macedonia is geopolitically around the 5th-6th Strongest Country in this Semi. Only Bulgaria, Cyprus, Armenia, and Greece are Stronger. So This cant be the Reason if Macedonia Fails. We'll see.

As much as I hate to bang on about this song, this is probably the song I have most enjoyed in the contest since Finland 2014. Will absolutely hit the roof if this qualifies... and for those who live in Macedonia I was lucky enough to spend 24ish hours in Skopje last August and I would more than happily go back for two weeks in 2019 (wishful thinking xpray)

(In case people who are unaware think I'm being biased, I am from the UK)

Macedonia does have a good and solid diaspora, but it's fairly inactive. Also, the interest about ESC has gone down, even if the song quality is there (recently some pretty modern stuff). Also, back then they were promoting the songs, sending CDs etc. Now, they hardly do that. For "Mojot Svet" they had good amount of promo sent to Sweden (got 5 from them in the semi). The jury is a different thing. They should probably take an advice from Malta in that department.
And I agree with the last sentence. There is time until then. Let's wait for the draw first.

Most of :mk: entries are not that good! Fans maybe like them but not most of the people!
Lol! Seeing that location and that flag, I can't take you seriously.

guys i love this entry dearly but in this semi any country would struggle to qualify with it and not just :mk:

in fact the only difference is that fans would THINK an :az: or a :gr: would qualify with it, but it wouldn't really be the reality of it

You are so wrong here!
I don't have any problem with them because i'm Greek! We may have a name dispute but that doesn't mean we hate each other!
I support them and wish them the best but most of their entries in the past years weren't that good and now their entry is on the difficult Sem-final so qualification is getting difficult.

To be honest I think this whole "Macedonia's results are never fair" narrative that has been going on is pretty bull.

In the last 10 years, besides "Crno i belo" which made the final, the only 2 other entries that people can argue were wronged were "Dance alone" in 2017 and maybe, just maybe, "Dona" in 2016, considering the relatively weak semi (Still, finishing in 11th was actually better than what people were expecting at the time). And "Dance alone" had a pretty bad live performance so I wouldn't consider the result unfair either, at all. It didn't have a tenth of the power of the studio version.

I really hope "Lost and found" goes trough this year though! I love the song, but I understand it's a grower for 90% of the people and that is not good on Eurovision, especially on such a tough semi as Macedonia has this year (maybe the hardest one ever?). So I won't cry that Macedonia didn't qualify because of politics in case that happens in May. The top 3 last year was Portugal, Bulgaria and Moldova for crying out loud! Be rational.

off topic but i would say the hardest semifinal ever was 2016 semi 1. this year's semi 1 is more like it will be very easy for a bunch of countries to advance which in turn makes it super hard for the others to get the remaining spots.

Did a little looking back to see which countries in Semifinal 1 have voted for Macedonia in the past. Seems like the 5 most common point givers were Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Switzerland, and Israel.

Points Given to Macedonia Between 2012-2017
2012 SF Bulgaria: 7 pts. Croatia: 7 pts. (Not In SF: Albania, Israel, Switzerland)
2012 Final Albania: 8 pts. Croatia: 8 pts. Bulgaria: 2 pts. Israel: 0 pts. Switzerland: 0 pts.
2013 SF Albania: 12 pts. Bulgaria: 5 pts. Switzerland 4 pts. Israel: 0 pts. (Not in SF: Croatia)
2014 SF Switzerland: 10 pts. Israel: 2 pts. (Not in SF: Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia)
2015 SF Albania: 10 pts. (Not in SF: Bulgaria, Croatia, Israel, Switzerland)
2016 SF Albania: 12 pts Jury, 12 pts TV. Israel: 8 pts Jury, 2 pts TV. Bulgaria: 0 pts (Ranked 11th) Jury, 8 pts TV. Switzerland: 0 pts (Ranked last) Jury, 4 pts TV. (Not in SF: Croatia).
2017 SF Bulgaria: 0 pts (Ranked 11th) Jury, 12 pts TV. Croatia: 0 pts (Ranked 13th) Jury, 6 pts TV. Israel: 0 pts (Ranked 14th) Jury, 5 pts TV. Switzerland: 0 pts (Ranked 11th) Jury, 3 pts TV. (Not in SF: Albania)

Historically, Albania has given Macedonia the second most points, only giving more to Greece.
Historically, Bulgaria has given Macedonia the most points of any country.
Historically, Croatia has given Macedonia the most points of any Semifinal 1 country.

Then good thing that this year they have Albania, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Israel and Croatia in their semi-final! They can do it!

^ That won't help much. Only the Albanian and Croatian jury are a guarantee for high points as well. The other juries from those countries might as well give it 0.

It all depends on how you present the song live , and it's the same for every country. I don't buy the "unfair/underrated" BS either.
It's a fact that they failed in every live performance so far (Dance Alone was an amateurish mess live lol).

When they have a strong performance they will qualify. And that's how it should be.

I think it is always good to take it as a positive chance on being the top ten most viewed in March in the ESC channel xheya

Really interesting observation to make: Belgium, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, and the UK have never given points to FYR Macedonia. Belgium, Ireland, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, and the UK will all be voting in Semifinal 1 this year.

Out of these countries, which do you think will award their first ever points to FYR Macedonia?

I feel like the song can potentially have a more North-Western appeal, so I'm counting on :be:, :ie: & :uk: to do it. ;)

Hopefully Portugal will! I'll probably be sending a vote their way, so I'll do my part

United Kingdom never votes for the countries from former Yugoslavia. In fact their people always make fun out of this part of Europe. Plus British people hardly tend to vote for non-English songs either (a good proof for that are some fans, ok some, not all who will have a full table with the non-English songs mostly stuck at the bottom). If it happens, might be Belgium out of those. Don't count on Portugal or Spain. But bear in mind that the list of the televote is much bigger and includes others as well.

 last four editions

2017 Croatia 5 points in UK televoting.

2016 UK jury gave to Serbia 2 points and 1 point to Croatia

2015 Serbia 1 point

2014 Slovenia 2 points in both Grand Final and Semifinal

About the non-English songs, there are not many of them tbh so it might apply for all the countries, but at least Portugal was 3rd in televote and 1st with the jury last year.
Italy was 3rd in 2015.

Praying this pulls an Austria/Belarus 2017. and qualifies against all odds. This song is a damn drug.
