Every version of "Crno i belo" was incredible. English, Russian, dance mix and of course the Macedonian original. The song came from Kaliopi's heart and you could feel it no matter the language. I had a special soft spot for an impromptu performance she did of the song on just piano for ESCTODAY. I actually ripped the audio from youtube along with her performance of "Samo Ti" and played them so much last year.

That is the reason there why live instruments should be allowed in ESC.

This depresses me, Kaliopi was amazing and now we're stuck with Esma.

And yes, live instruments would be awesome.

This year in general is depressing. I really like Esma but for different reasons to why I loved Kaliopi so much. I think I had my two favourite entries ever last year "Suus" and "Crno i belo". Kaliopi was indeed amazing. She gave some incredibly honest interviews and spoke openly about the dark times she went through which lead to her writing "Crno i belo". She had such warmth and soul to her. Very down to earth. I've found myself an artist for life in Kaliopi. I'm really enjoying all her music and I will for a long time.

I like Esma & Lozano as well but it's not the same. You can tell the song has just been planted on them with them having no say in the matter. As aletem has said, Esma can sing live. I don't know what happened in Amsterdam.

I didn't watch her clip in Amsterdam so I wouldn't know, I just don't like her style at all. It's too messy for my taste. Lozano's voice is pleasant but as you said, the song was forced onto them and it just doesn't feel right.

1- How many of them will watch the Eurovision song contest?
2- How many of them will cast a vote? (considering their living conditions)

I don't think they'll make so much difference.
Roma people have phones in Macedonia. Why wouldn't they have phones and TVs in other European countries like Hungary, Romania, Spain, France, Germany, Norway, Finland, etc??
We will see that. And like someone mentioned, Esma is miles ahead of both Sofi and Gypsy.cz combined!! ;) Not to forget that she is a great humanitarian and a former Noble Prize for Peace candidate. :) She has held so many concerts across Europe. And she does have fans (whether they are Roma people or not).
Like I said, we'll see what happens.

Of-course it does. I thought the Portuguese entry of 2010 is horrible (and still do actually), but it qualified to a great surprise. And she was unknown, unlike Esma.

I am sorry to say this, but I think some of you are over-exaggerating things. First the song and now the video. The video is pretty simple, far from being bad. xqueenbitch

I didn't mean they have no phones. But I don't think the majority of them have so much money on their phone and even if they do, I doubt they'll use it for such a trivial (trivial to them, ofc) thing as Eurovision, considering even the majority of casual voters abstain from casting a vote.

What does that have to do with what I said? What I said is that the artist popularity dont matter if the song sucks, look at Israel 2011. And this song, even if not totally bad, is definetely worse tham most songs in the 2nd semi.
Why did you have to criticize a Portuguese entry? Do you think I'd be offended just because Im portuguese? I actually dont even like that song much  Ridiculousness!

Anyway, the Swedish infor panel was prone to this entry (not sure how many points it got). I guess that is a good prelude to the upcoming jury vote.

You didn't seem to understand what I said in my previous post. Dana hasn't held so many concerts in Europe, like Esma. And no, I was just making a point with that Portuguese entry. That song wasn't popular among fans and still qualified. It was definitely not meant as something for you to be offended, rather an example to what you previously said!

If that was the case, Turkey wouldn't be getting so many points from Belgium, Netherlands, France, or Macedonia (even though there are Macedonians who vote for Turkish songs too)? Or?

There are 5 million Turks in Europe, almost all of which watch Eurovision and the other factor that helps Turkey get points is that in those countries (France, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium etc.) people are not interested in Eurovision (Germany's victory raised some interest recently, tho).
Moreover, Turks in Europe are in a good condition. They wouldn't mind spending some of the money on their phone in order to vote.
YOU made me say this in a harsh way, but the majority(not ALL) of Romani people in Europe make a living thru smuggling and snatching and peddling(speaking from experience). I don't think they would really watch Eurovision and spend money to vote for a song.
It's the same way as a bad song partly in Indian will most likely NOT get votes from the UK.
