The most prominent exponent of the corridos tumbados is Adriel Favela. He is a young man who stands out in the world of regional Mexican music and has captivated the audience with his songs.

Favela has left everyone stunned after venturing into the world of regional Mexican music with his mini album "Sólo Muere Si Se Olvida", marking a turn in his career, as he has been well received by his followers.

In April last year, Adriel Favela released his six-song album under the Fonovisa/Universal label, taking his music in a new direction. Although his list has been similar in the genre of corridos. This project represents his versatility and ability to explore different facets of regional Mexican music, which has been recorded at the Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas, in collaboration with prominent artists and producers. Adriel presents a collection of songs that explore various emotions and themes, from love and passion, to heartbreak and reflection on life. FSC Norway - February 2024 - Mari Bella - Different Kinda Love​

Representing Norway in FSC February 2024 is a New Artist for Norway in FSC, the talented young Norwegian singer Mari Bella. Here is some more information about her.

Mari Eriksen Bølla (born 2004 in Bryne, Norway), artist name Mari Bella, is a talented young Norwegian pop artist. She previously went by her real name Mari Bølla, but changed Bølla to Bella to focus on an international music career (the Norwegian vowel “ø” does not exist in English and so an “e” is more convenient).

Mari showed an interest in song and music from an early age. She started in a choir when she was seven years old and has had various singing teachers since she was ten years old. She was in the Sandnes Cultural School choir from 2016 to 2019.

She became more known in 2014 when she took part in Norwegian Jr. popIDOL on Norwegian TV2 coming 3rd. She became nationally known, however, in 2020 when as a 15-year old she participated in and won Norwegian popIDOL, the youngest ever to win that contest.

In December 2021 she signed a record contract with Sony Music Norway and was also selected as a finalist in Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Your Loss". She did not qualify for the Final but was voted in for the Last Chance. In autumn 2022 she changed her artist name to Mari Bella and started making new songs to be released later that year and in 2023.

FSC Latvia - February 2024: Kristiāna Millere - Ko Sirds Tava Jūt

​

Kristiāna is 19 years young from Tukums, who is announced as "a breath of fresh air in the Latvian alternative music environment, whose music is best characterized by bright energy, melodic mood and lyrics that make you think." She started her professional music career in 2021, joining Linda Garanča's Music Studio. Thanks to the victory in the 2022 competition of young musicians "Saldus Saulīte", Kristiāna got the right to perform on the stage of Latvia's oldest rock festival "Saldus Saule 2023" with a full program of her songs - this is currently (so far) the loudest record in the biography of this singer.

Ko Sirds Tava Jūt (What Your Heart Feels) is a part of Kristiāna's album Saules Uzplaukums (Sunrise). Chorus carries the main message of the song: it's time to show who you are and who you want to be, what you want to become, what your heart feels.​

INTERPRETATION OF LYRICS

"Past Life" explores the themes of escape, self-perception, self-doubt, and the transformative power of love. It explores the idea that finding a deep connection with another person can provide solace, validation, and a sense of purpose in a chaotic world. The song encourages introspection and invites us to question how we perceive ourselves compared to how others perceive us.

Rêve shared: "Everybody debated whether or not a piano ballad would fit on a dance album, and I said it was really important to me-especially on a debut album-that I showcased my roots, because I grew up playing piano. Singing and writing this way and spilling my guts on piano is a form of therapy to me. This is definitely one of the most vulnerable tracks on the album. It describes this feeling of waking up next to your partner in the middle of the night and just being so grateful that you're alive at the same time. Jayrick, Ervin River - Te Está Olvidando​

Erick Gutierrez Cervantes, better known as Jayrick, is a music producer and beatmaker specializing in genres such as Boom Bap, Hip-Hop, and Trap.

The young producer, before entering the world of rap, was a recognized talent within the Mexican electronic music industry, with releases on high-caliber national and international labels he established himself as one of the great promises.

Some time later Gera MX discovered his great talent and joined him in the “Rich Vagos” team where he has developed in a very interesting way, becoming one of the best beatmakers in the music industry today.

Irving Rios, better known as Ervin River in the music scene, is a talented man from Juarez who little by little has been achieving his dreams thanks to his ambition and his desire to make music. He is a composer and producer who began independently almost 10 years ago with the rap genre, at first it began as a hobby in collaboration with the local production company Namuju, with which he gained popularity over the years, today his work has led him to currently signed with companies such as Universal Music Publishing Mexico, Virgin Mexico and to collaborate with artists such as Camilo VII, Gera MX, and Rich Vagos.
For his project, a new album is on the way, "Cosas Maravillosas" is inspired by the learnings and the trajectory that he has been acquiring as an artist, counting on it being his contribution to the Mexican scene.

Without a doubt, Irving is a man from Juarez who shows that dreams are worked for and that nothing is unattainable.

FSC Norway - March 2024 - Maria Mena - And Then Came You​

Representing Norway in FSC March 2024, and returning to the FSC for Norway after 3.5 years, is the talented Norwegian singer-songwriter Maria Mena. Here is some more information about her.

Maria Viktoria Mena (born in 1986), artist name Maria Mena, is a talented and very popular Norwegian songwriter and pop artist. She was born into an artistic family, her mother, a playwright and her father, a drummer. Her mother is Norwegian and her father is Nicaraguan (Afro-Nicaraguan). Her parents’ divorce when Maria was 9 years affected her much and at 13 she moved to live with her father. She wrote music lyrics as a form of ‘personal therapy’ and made a demo of a song called “My Lullaby” which subsequently led to her being given a record contract. It was the start of a musical journey where lyrics would always be important for her.

In 2002 she released her debut-album called “Another Phase” which included her first song. It reached nr 5 on the Norwegian Singles Chart as well as gaining much radio-play. In the years that followed she released several albums to critical acclaim, “Mellow” (2004), “Apparently Unaffected” (2005) and “Cause and Effect” (2008) which won her a Norwegian Grammy (“Spellemannspris”). A popular single called “All This Time” was the Norwegian entry in FSC April 2009.

In late 2010 she released a Christmas-song (cd-single) called “Home For Christmas” which gained much radio-play and has become a Norwegian “evergreen”. In the following years she released the albums “Victoria” (2011) and “Weapon in Mind” (2013). The song “Am I Supposed To Apologize” was the Norwegian entry in FSC January 2012. Another song, called “The End”, was the Norwegian entry in FSC April 2014.

In late 2015 she released the album “Growing Pains”. Maria took a long break from the music business after this, focusing on other projects in her life. In 2019, however, she began work on new songs. The first single from this new album-project was the beautiful melodic Pop-ballad “Not OK” which was released in April 2020. This was the Norwegian entry in FSC September 2020. The new album was called “They Never Leave Their Wives” released in October 2020.

Another album came a few years later, in September 2023 called “And Then Came You” which was well received by reviewers and her many fans all around the world. Several singles were released and one of the most popular songs was the title track “And Then Came You”, a beautiful Pop-ballad in Maria’s style with important lyrics that have strong meaning for her. This is the song chosen by the Norwegian jury as the Norwegian entry here in FSC March 2024.

Maria Mena has written many songs over the years, in many styles and with different arrangements, and her songs very often tell a personal story or give a message that is important to her. She has a dedicated fan base and her music is appreciated by many. She is a creative talent who has made her mark in Norwegian music and of whom we will surely hear more.

Yuridia Francisca Gaxiola Flores (born 4 October 1986), known just as Yuridia is a Mexican singer. She came in second place in the fourth season of the reality show La Academia, which launched her career. She is considered one of the most successful Mexican artists in the 21st century.

In 2005, Yuridia released her debut album La Voz de un Ángel. It became the second best-selling album in 2006 and one of the fastest-selling albums of all time in Mexico. It has been certified Diamond since its release. Her second album, Habla El Corazón was certified Platinum in Mexico after a few weeks of release. Entre Mariposas, Yuridia's third album with original songs, was released in late 2007. It was certified gold selling more than 50,000 copies within the first week of being released, peaking at the number one position in the top-selling charts.

On December 5, 2006, Sony BMG released Yuridia's second album, Habla El Corazón, as well as the first single "Como Yo Nadie Te Ha Amado", a cover of the Spanish version of Bon Jovi's "This Ain't a Love Song". The second and last single was Yuridia's cover for Roxette's Listen to Your Heart Spanish cover, Habla El Corazon. The album includes Spanish covers of well-known songs from artists such as Bonnie Tyler, and The Police. The album sold 660,000 copies worldwide, and was certified 3× Platinum + Gold.

To this date, both the album and the single are Yuridia's most successful in the United States. The album debuted at 15 and peaked at #14, while the single peaked on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart at 16. Her second single has managed to do what her previous second single did not, enter the HLT chart and has peaked at number 44.

Yuridia's third solo album, Entre Mariposas, was released on November 15, 2007, in Mexico. The first single from the album was "Ahora Entendí", written by her and Camila's Mario Domm. The following single is Yo Por El. It peaked at #1 in Mexico and in Central America. The third and last single is En Su Lugar, it debuted at #16, finally topping the #4 spot. The album, produced by Javier Calderón, quickly garnered major sales and has already been certified Gold for selling 50,000 copies within the first day of its release. It has also been certified 4× Platinum + Gold for a total of 650,000 copies worldwide.

She has been nominated for awards such as, Latin Grammy, Premios Juventud Latin Billboard OYE awards and Lo Nuestro music awards.

On April 26, 2007, Yuridia won a Latin Billboard Award for Best Pop Female Album.

In early May 2007, Yuridia also received four nominations for the Premios Juventud. She was nominated for Best Artist, Best Album, Catchiest Song and Most Heart-Breaking Song.

By the end of 2008, Yuridia won a Premios Oye award as the best Female Artist of the year.

In 2009 she also had three nominations for (Lo nuestro Music awards) "Best Artist", "Best Album" (Entre Mariposas), and "Catchiest Song"(Ahora entendi).

On September 30, 2009, she released her fourth studio album, Nada es Color de Rosa. This album has sold 120,000 copies.

In 2016, through a statement, announced her entry to Televisa, after belonging to TV Azteca for 9 years, having participated in the singing reality La Academia.

On April 27, 2022, it was announced they Yuridia would return to TV Azteca, but this time as a coach of La Voz... México alongside Ha*Ash, David Bisbal and Joss Favela. A contestant on her team, Fátima Elizondo won the competition on August 29, 2022, making Yuridia the winning coach.

TALK is an independent artist from Ottawa, Ontario. He goes by the stage name TALK because "I never shut up. That's the first thing. I've always had something to say, ever since I was a kid." It's also an ode to the song Talk by Coldplay that he really connected with.

His older brother is also a singer and Broadway actor but TALK always viewed "the singing thing" as uncool in his youth until high school. An influential teacher saw something in him and singing and storytelling then became a passion. His music now is really rooted in human connection.

Aina Abdul is no stranger to FSC community. She has participated with many songs namely Semalam, Ghost, Sepi, Terus Hidup, Fool, and Shoot. Now in March 2024, she comes back with her latest single "Jangan Mati Rasa Itu" which is the first single from her latest album "Imaji". Just few days ago on 3rd March 2024, Aina Abdul has garnered three (3) major awards in Anugerah Juara Lagu 2024 for this song - 3rd place, Best Vocals and Audience Choice awards.

FSC Norway - April 2024 - Thomas Bergersen ft. Merethe Soltvedt - One Last Day​

Representing Norway in April 2024, and returning to the FSC for Norway, is the talented and famous Norwegian Cinematic Music Composer Thomas Bergersen, once again featuring Norwegian singer Merethe Soltvedt on vocals. Here is some more information about them.

Thomas Jacob Bergersen (born 4th July 1980, Trondheim, Norway), professionally known as Thomas Bergersen, is a well known Norwegian music composer, multi-instrumentalist, and also the co-founder of the production music company and music project Two Steps From Hell (which also has participated for Norway in FSC). Bergersen’s compositions have featured in many motion picture campaigns, such as Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Twilight Saga, Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, The Dark Knight, Tron: Legacy and hundreds more. Bergersen has scored over one thousand soundtracks and film trailers in all, an impressive feat.

In May 2010, Bergersen and his business partner, Nick Phoenix, released a debut public Epic Music Two Steps From Hell album titled ‘Invincible’, featuring some of their most popular tracks, including “Freedom Fighters” and “Heart of Courage”. Several additional commercial album releases have since followed, including ‘Archangel’ and ‘SkyWorld’.

2011 saw the release of a solo-produced album/soundtrack from Thomas Bergersen, titled ‘Illusions’. His second solo public album called ‘Sun’ was released in September 2014 and had many popular tracks including the epic song ‘Empire of Angels’. With his epic cinematic style he was gaining a following around the world, also with his solo-work.

In March of 2020 the 7 part album series ‘Humanity’ was announced. ‘Humanity’ is intended to be a 7 part album series exploring all aspects of human emotion. In July 2020 the album ‘Humanity - Chapter I’ was released to acclaim. One of the epic and beautiful songs on this new album was the song ‘Mountain Call” which was the Norwegian entry in FSC November 2020. The same month he released the 2nd album called “Humanity - Chapter 2”.

In May 2021 he released the 3rd album in his series, called “Humanity - Chapter 3”. One of the beautiful epic cinematic songs on this new album was “Red” which was the Norwegian entry in June 2021. In September 2021 he released “Humanity - Chapter 4”. “Humanity - Chapter 5” was released in April 2023. The 1st single from this new album was the song “Night Queen” with the Norwegian singer Merethe Soltvedt on vocals. This was the Norwegian entry in April 2023. The 2nd single from the album was the song “Memoria”, another epic cincematic piece of music which again featured Merethe Soltvedt on vocals. This was the Norwegian entry in FSC September 2023. A 3rd beautiful song on the album is the song called “One Last Day”. This is the song chosen by the Norwegian jury as the Norwegian entry here in FSC April 2024.

Thomas Bergersen will continue to work on his monumental “Humanity” project and we will without doubt be able to enjoy many new beautiful compositions of his in the time to come.

Merethe Soltvedt is a Norwegian singer/songwriter who has appeared with vocals on several songs by the Norwegian/US music project Two Steps From Hell as well as on solo- melodies by Thomas Bergersen, most recently in his ambitious Humanity-series album project. She sang vocals on “Night Queen”, “Memoria” and “One Last Day” from Thomas Bergersen’s latest album. She has also released her own albums (titled “Myopia” and “Audio Charm Bracelet”) as well as 3 singles. She is a talented singer from whom we will hear more in the years to come.

The Norwegian entry for FSC April 2024, “One Last Day”, by Thomas Bergersen ft. Merethe Soltvedt, is another dynamic, grand epic and uplifting cinematic melody written by Thomas Bergersen. The Norwegian jury is happy to enter Thomas Bergersen again in the FSC for Norway.

Nórdika is a synthpop band formed in Mexico, in 2008 influenced by the tendency of new wave, synthpop, futurepop. Nórdika born as a fresh proposal on the international scene, with and 3 Albums and 18 EP / Singles. Nórdika already shared the stage with internationally renowned bands like Solitary Experiments, Covenant, Fadehead among others. Nórdika has collaborated in several official releases among which big bands of the genre, such as: Felix Marc (Frozen Plasma / Diorama), Alex Braun (!Distain) Spektralized, Les Anges the Nuit, Vanguard, Ruined Conflict, Want / ED, ien Oblique, Syrian, Carved Souls, Vanguard, Moenia, Synthetixxx, Star Crussaders, Pegasus Asteroid, Distorted World, Twisted Destiny, Mondtraume, etc.

The first EP (Veneno Preview – 2008) was mixed by Tom Shear (Assemblage 23), of which the most famous track from the band “Tus Labios” and the more recent album (Neurotransmisor) was mastered in Russia by Alex Rush, in collaboration with Section 44 in the USA, Synthematik in Russia and Aquo Rec Records in Mexico, with a great international acceptance, with several favorable reviews in several European regions specialized media.

In 2014 Nórdika launches single “Illumination” stellar collaboration with Felix Marc (Frozen Plasma/Diorama) receiving excellent support and dissemination through all digital media stores and digital media.

In 2014 Nórdika release EP “Illumination Remixed” with the collaboration of ien Oblique, Twisted Destiny, Spektralized, Want/ED. In February 2015 Nórdika launches “Delirious Passion (Satisfy Me) feat. Alex Braun” second single from the album 2015 Nórdika “Blaues Blut” including important collaborations Ruined Conflict, Vanguard, Oren Amram, Benjamin's Plague.

For this month, Nórdika decided to represent Mexico with the song called Angels in the Dark, one of the most fast-paced songs of their newest album. The song is a journey through natural landscapes and what lures in the shadows perfect for listening while on the road and also makes wonders for dancing to the beat.

FSC Norway - May 2024 - Wardruna - Hertan​

Representing Norway in May 2024, and returning to FSC for Norway after 4 years, is the talented Norwegian Old Norse-Folk band Wardruna. Here is some more information about them.

Wardruna is a Norwegian Old Norse-Folk music band formed in 2003 by Einar Selvik along with Gaahl (Kristian Eivind Espedal) and Lindy Fay Hella. Selvik and Gaahl were former members of the Norwegian Black Metal-band Gorgoroth. Wardruna have from the start been dedicated to creating musical renditions of Norse cultural and esoteric traditions, and make significant use of Nordic historical and traditional instruments incl. primitive deer-hide frame drums, flutes, kraviklyr, tagelharpe, mouthh arp, goat horn, and lur. Non-traditional instruments and sources of sound like trees, rocks, water, & torches are also used in their music.

Current members of the band are:

The band have released 5 full albums, the first 3 based on Norse mythology.They have a sizable fan-following around the world and are Norway’s most famous band in this music genre.

The group’s debut album ‘Runaljod - Gap Var Ginnunga’ was released in 2009, followed by ‘Runaljod - Yggdrasil’ in 2013. In 2014 Selvik announced that they would take part in composing the score for season 2 of the tv-series ‘Vikings’. He later appeared as an actor on the show. The third album, ‘Runaljod - Ragnarok’, was released in 2016 to critical acclaim and was quickly embraced by fans. The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s World Albums chart.

In August 2017 Wardruna headlined the 20th alternative music, folk music, and experimental music festival ‘Mėnuo Juodaragis’ in Lithuania, and in early 2018, they embarked on their first tour of North America. The band’s fourth album, the acoustic ‘Skald’, was released in 2018.

In 2019 they began work on a forthcoming album, and the first single was the song ‘Grá’ (‘Grey’) released in February 2020. This was the Norwegian entry in FSC March 2020. Their Fifth album ‘Kvitravn’ was released in early 2021. They subsequently released a live version of the album. In 2022 and 2023 they played many concerts around the world and went on tours.

They started composing new music in 2023 and the first single from their new album project, a powerful haunting melody called “Hertan” (“Heart” in English), was finally released together with a power visual music video in early April 2024. This is the song chosen by the Norwegian jury as the Norwegian entry here in FSC May 2024.

Wardruna continue to create powerful spiritual Folk-music based in Old Norse mysticism and its captivating soundscape and we will for sure hear more from them in the years to come.

The Norwegian entry for FSC #183 May 2024, called “Hertan” (“Heart” / “Hjerte”) is another powerful and spiritual song in Old Norse-Folk style written and performed by the talented Norwegian band Wardruna. The Norwegian jury is happy to enter Wardruna again in the FSC for Norway.

Born as Farah Nadeera Zaini on 18th September 1993, she is one of the most promising powerhouse singer today in Malaysia.
Her journey to stardom is not an easy one, she has joined many singing competitions since 2012 (Vokal Bukan Sekadar Rupa, Mentor Legend, Lagu Cinta Kita, Big Stage) and released multiple singles which failed to launch her career. Fortunately in 2020, she won a duet song competition "Lagu Cinta Kita", and later competed in All Together Now Malaysia in 2022 which gained her 100 marks. Her breakthrough moment is when she won 5th season of Big Stage in 2023, where she has proven her worth to be one of the singers to beat in Malaysia.

Her single "Emas" is a testimony of her never ending struggle in the music industry. This power ballad song invites you to move out from your comfort zones and shadow of doubt into the limelight. Success is worth more than anything, even gold.

FSC Norway - June 2024 - Kalandra - The State of the World​

Representing Norway in FSC June 2024, and returning to the FSC for Norway, is the talented Norwegian Alternative Folk-rock band Kalandra. Here is some more information about them.

Kalandra is a Norwegian Alternative Folk-rock band consisting of the members Katrine Stenbekk, Jogeir Daae Mæland, Oskar Johnsen Rydh and Florian Bernhard Winter. The band was created 9 years ago, was based in England for a while, and they have toured both in Norway and internationally over the years. They have been warm-up band for familiar bands such as Wardruna and Gåte in Norway.

The band name comes from the Calandra Lark, a bird known for its beautiful song. Their sound is a blend of Alternative Folk-rock and Alternative Pop where they weave ethereal melodies into raw and eerie musical landscapes. This can be heard on their debut album which they worked on for several years before the release in October 2020. In interviews they have said that their songs describe feelings of wonder, anger, longing and accept as one’s life unfolds.

They were a 7-piece band at the start of their career but then some members chose other paths and only 3 members were left. This made them experiment with their sound and focus on becoming good songwriters. Trial and errors followed and they decided in the end to open their own recording studio where they could have complete creative control. A 4th members joined the band and they released an EP in 2017. They continued creating music for a future album which was as finally mentioned released in October 2020.

One of the new songs on their October 2020-album was the Alternative Folk-rock ballad “Borders” which was a hauntingly beautiful hymn to the ocean and the natural elements. This was the Norwegian entry in FSC September 2021. They released a couple more songs in 2021 and then in 2022 came a soundtrack album called ‘Kingdom Two Crowns: Norse Lands - Extended Soundtrack’ which was a new version of a soundtrack used for a player’s game.

In 2023 they began writing some new music and the 1st product of this work was the single “The State of the World” which was finally released in March 2024. A beautiful, haunting Folk-ballad, it has profound/important lyrics about the state of our world. This is the song chosen by the Norwegian jury as the Norwegian entry here in FSC June 2024.

Kalandra is a very talented Norwegian Alternative Folk-rock band and there is little doubt that we will hear more from them in the years to come.

FSC Norway - July 2024 - Alan Walker ft. Kylie Cantrall - Unsure​

Representing Norway in FSC July 2024, and returning to the FSC for Norway, is the talented popular British-Norwegian Electronic Dance Music (EDM) -Producer and artist as well as FSC Legend Alan Walker, this time featuring Kylie Cantrall on vocals. Here is some more information about them.

Alan Walker is a British-born Norwegian Record Producer and artist in the EDM-genre. Born in England of an English father and Norwegian mother, he and his family moved to Norway in 1999 at age 2. He has since lived in Bergen, Norway and has made his huge music career here.

His worldwide digital song and EDM-hit “Fade” gained attention after its release on YouTube. “Faded”, a remastered vocal version of “Fade”, came in 2015. The rest is history as they say. Alan Walker has in the years since become one of the world’s biggest Electronic Dance Music producers and artists with countless digital hits and productions.

In May 2024 Alan Walker released a new popular and catchy EDM/Dance-pop single called “Unsure” with the singer Kylie Cantrall on vocals. This is the song chosen by the Norwegian jury as the Norwegian entry here in FSC July 2024.

Alan Walker is a very productive & successful music producer- and artist who has been making music for 10 years and who keeps making new melodic EDM-music for everyone to enjoy.

Kylie Cantrall is an American actress, singer, songwriter and social media personality. Among her acting career she played the lead role as Gabby Duran in the television series ‘Gabby Duran & the Unsittables’ (2019–2021), and a recurring role as Dani in the fourth season of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ (2023). She also played a main voice role as Savannah in the animated film ‘Ron's Gone Wrong’ (2021).

As a singer, she has recorded many singles, with her first extended play being released in 2023. She collaborated with Alan Walker on his new 2024-single “Unsure” and is very proud to join Alan Walker on this project.

The Norwegian entry for FSC July 2024, “Unsure”, is another catchy and popular melodic EDM/Dance pop-song by Alan Walker ft. Kylie Cantrall on vocals. The Norwegian jury is happy to enter Alan Walker again in the FSC for Norway.

THE D-DAY DARLINGS - THE LONGEST DAY​

The D-Day Darlings are described as the UK's premier wartime inspired music group and they were finalists in the 2018 edition of Britain's Got Talent. 'The Longest Day' was specially written and composed to mark the last major anniversary having veterans from that time still around. Katie Ashby (Founder & Lead Singer) said “I wanted to write a special song that pays a lasting tribute to all those who gave so much on D-Day and to honour the precious few living veterans. I also wanted to inspire the younger generation, through music, to learn more about the experiences of our war heroes, and to open up conversations so we can pass knowledge on through the generations. We must continue to remember the sacrifices made for our freedoms.”

Fittingly, 'The Longest Day' video is set against the breathtaking backdrop of The British Normandy Memorial which features a staggering 1,475 giant silhouettes across the wild meadow fields installed by Standing with Giants in honour of the servicemen who fell on D-Day itself. The memorial stands on a hillside in Ver-sur-Mer above Gold Beach in Normandy, a place where history was shaped. On the columns of the Memorial the names of 22,442 servicemen and women from 38 nationalities who lost their lives on D-Day and during the Battle of Normandy are inscribed.

On 6th June, the world marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day. During coverage of the anniversary events, I came across this song, entitled 'The Longest Day' by The D-Day Darlings. I knew instantly that this moving tribute would be my next selection for the UK at FSC, in honour of Britain's greatest generation and all of the heroes from around the world who fought alongside us. FSC Sweden - July 2024

Evergrey is a Swedish progressive metal band from Gothenburg. They formed in 1993 by guitarist/vocalist Tom S. Englund as a progressive power metal band, in contrast to the melodic death metal that Gothenburg is known for. Joining them as featuring artists are Salina Englund also from Gothenburg and Jonas Renkse from Stockholm.​
