Cool, it feels like France is in for a victory within the foreseeable future, they have been trying really hard lately and it's just a matter of time until it pays off. Curious to see what Louane will bring to the table and if it's their year this year

Not me reading this thread and totally blanking on who France sent last year...

I'm curious to see what vibe we get from Louane, whether it's mid-tempo indie-pop bop or slow and moody introspective - both sound possible from her previous songs, but I'm most confident in the French delegation delivering on a simple and effective staging. The past few years have all had show highlight moments for me during the French performance, and I hope that continues.

Gotta correct here (good thing I just rewatched La Famille Bélier this morning), the movie CODA is a remake of the movie for which she won the César, it's not based on her life tho
Oops yeah sorry thats what I wanted to write but it was before my coffee. :D
I am so hyped for it. Seems like France is not going down with a fight to finally snatch that 6th win!

I'm not sure but the post she dedicated to esc announcement on Instagram with the caption; see you in Basel, basically only has things related to France, her photo shoot for the announcement, the French HoD and Adele, and she also said she collaborated with someone special for the song and that the song will be different, so I really assume it's her.

Alexandra Redde Amiel (french HoD) just announced that Louane entry will be released the 15th of March at the Stade de France, during France - Wales (Rugby XI Nations tournament) in front of 81 000 people. 🔥
They play :sc: Scotland in the final round on that date. :p

The song choice for Louane is the key to this ESC season for me.Her talent is without question, she is stunning. If you go through the songs she could of chosen for ESC there are some amazing songs. et si for instance would likely land slide the ESC jury.If Adele is on the writing team then songs like Je me Demande show the quality we might be looking at.You have to wonder if they left songs like those on the table just how good is the entry?.Of course with the bar so high there is a chance they chose the wrong song,it happens sometimes depending on the contracts and who else is involved etc and the eternal question all delegations trying to win go through, how to get the jury/televote mix right? .Very few competitive songs this year,Italy out of things etc,it could come down to a France v Sweden shoot out.Finland taking televote scandi 12s or 10s could come into it taking them from Sweden.Likely we get a couple more competitive entries yet though and we dont have the songs yet anyway from the big players.

Are you including 2022 there?
The only time I liked what we sent in a decade and they made the worst staging I’ve ever seen with horrible camera work. Vocals on live performance were a bit shabby too

Not a huge fan of Louane, but really hoping she’s got a song that can beat Måns (or that Sweden sends KAJ)

Yeah Fulenn really was such a disappointing live performance on the ESC stage. Really thought it would have been an easy Top 10 - I guess you just never know.

In the Santa/Louane/Zaho debate, I definitely would have preferred Santa just because I like her whole rhythmics more. Her voice also appeals to me in a way the other two's don't.
That being said, I'm kinda surprised they got Louane on the road. She's very popular in France and I didn't expect them to go that route twice in a row.
Now, I'm not a fan of her music in general as she tends to bore me - my favorites are probably her first songs, so I don't know what to wish for. We'll see I guess, her participation is neither bad or good news.

The problem with Santa is that her songs feels too dated and too "french variety", or at least adapted to the "france 2 public" (la ménagère de France 2) taste. It's totally understandable that it would work with a francophone audience but pretty sure it would be way less adapted for a european audience. She's amazing live but this is also a song contest. She would bring a very classic french ballad but her style makes me think it would more similar to Lisa Angell than Slimane or Barbara Pravi to be honest, meaning a "retro ballad" but retro not in a good way. Going with her would have been a downgrade at the moment, from a song perspective only, despite all her talent and capacity to put an amazing show live.

I was so scared they choosed Santa. On the other hand, Louane (and it's only my opinion) has a way more modern vibe in her songs than Santa, and has more potential to bring the right song to win. I wasn't fully convinced at the beginning personnally, when she was announced but what she said about the song is very promising to say the least.

In the swimming pool, always stayin' cool
Oh wow, they're takin this really seriously then

I though a bit odd that the delegation would only work in a closed environment staging-wise but they changed this, staging was always a big problem with our songs. So i'm quite happy and curious.
