But as French people are... French people, yesterday everyone laughed at Amandine saying our song was bad, now that she has lost and is rock bottom, people say we had the best song and that the other countries are idiot not having given us points because they hate us and vote for their neighbours... Same as each year... We do the contrary of others. The more we fail, the more are representants are beloved !

Sounds familiar!

But I do think that France were the best Big 5 entrant this year. She was like a Gallic Tina Turner.

Eurovision 2013 has had the poorest viewing figures ever, with 2.8 millions of viewers. it was the 4th xshock program tonight, behind The Voice, Theater and the series Hawaii Five-Zero...

Holy cr**! I feel sorry for you that so many French people have such a bad taste. I mean, come one! Skipping ESC for a stupid American action series??? :? I'm ashamed of Humanity. Especially for France, these numbers are alarming since you are one of the big5 and 2,8 million viewers are VERY low for a country like France. In comparison, 4,1 million Swedes saw the grand final of the Swedish Final in March 2013.

I voted for her.
Although i knew this year it was up to Mr. Bjiorkmans taste.
Unfortunately i read that he will be to a reference group of Ebu the next 3 years.
He wants to make Eurovision a big Scandinavian party, where ussr countries also sing Swedish songs.
1.Denmark
2.Azerbaijan (swedish lyricists)
4.Norway
5.Russia (swedish composers)
He even put Georgia of G:Son second to last in the draw.
In the Semis,3 of 4 Scandinavian countries were before the breaks.
This man will do harm to eurovision.

 In fact, the theater and Hawaii Five-Zero made quite the same viewing figures as Eurovision... But last year 4 million people watched the contest.
But 7 million people watched the finals of The Voice (which is huge).
Even on Twitter, 320 000 tweets have been posted about the Voice and only 80 000 about Eurovision...

In fact, people begin not caring about the contest, especially youngsters, as it's on France 3, which is mainly watched by old people... More and more people don't know Eurovision exists or that it's still alive or that France can take part in it... At least some years ago it was laughed at. This year there was absolutely nothing as there were nothing to laugh at...

Hopefully, we can't know the ratings of the semi-final as the ratings of France Ô are secret (because they may be usually so low that people would ask to cancel it, but it's the channel dedicated to overseas French territories, no link to Eurovision !
There were probably less than 100 000 persons to watch it...

I guess if it carries on like that, we will end up withdrawing, because it will cost too much for the ratings it has...

Well, one can understand it's not very fun seeing all the other countries exchanging points irrespective of the quality of the songs and never getting any sympathy vote :(
There's something sadomasochist rooting for France at ESC
On the other hand there are no ads anymore at this hour on france 3 so I'm not sure there is a direct link between ratings and a possible withdrawal. 2.8 million is still big for france 3.

Apparently being a bookies favorite means great things for you unless your France. xdohxshrugxcry:cry:xgaah Poor Amaury, that still really stings it was my #1 :(

It was also the only bookies favorite I can recall that was not a typical Eurovision song. And what really makes me question things is the bookie favorites usually do really well with the jury (extremely well if your the heavy favorite like Amaury became), and the only way for that not to happen is if you crash and burn (Amaury didn't). Yet that year France only placed 9th with them when every other year favorites do brilliant. I think he got beaten by Eric Saade X-OI and Jedward xdown and that tells you all you need to know what the jury is looking for.

The jury and public want conventional Eurovision style songs. Anything different isn't welcomed even if its modern and current (Montenegro/Slovenia this year). Even France's attempt at pop (Anggun) was too unconventional  and until they lower the standard they will continue to have results like this. xshrug

I suggest france send a giant in a box next year and have some nice gold confetti fall before the song is over.. oh and about the song.. make sure it's more conventional. We don't want any soulful voices in Eurovision.. AND ENGLISH!! How could I forget english!?

Do this and.... a top 15 is yours.......... possibly:rolleyes:

Oh wait it's France, you'll be near the bottom again because this contest is the biggest load of unfair pooxgaah

AND ENGLISH!! How could I forget english!?

Sorry, but France is a country that is proud of its culture and its national language - French. They will never send an english song to ESC again, after the great scandal the 2008 song made in the government. The French culture and language (which is also spoken all around the earth) shines all over the world, and is considered as one of the greatest cultures in the world ;)

They are too proud over that to send a formatted-english song to Eurovision

Everybody chez moi cheered for Amandine yesterday when she put in the power in the end. I think she got at least one vote from everybody. It was a great performance. However, hardly a winning song and although she may not has scored big in points, she brought well deserved respect to France. I hope you keep your head high and continue to deliver these kind of acts. ESC needs them. :) To win, France must change attitude dramatically and that is perhaps not really what you want or really possible even.

edit:
And really: Viewer-ratings says nothing really. If something is good entertainment with quality moments, the viewers will come. If there are strong negative lobbying against ESC in France, a counterforce will soon establish, don't you think?

I feel that i really understimated this. I liked the live performance much more than the studio version. If i knew it would be this good, it would have been in my top 5!
