I've been less interested in Eurovision this year and this year's lineup does not help.

With all my soul I'm hoping Albania is appreciated (Latvia as well)

Mid-NF season I thought this was a weak year and I felt genouinely bored.

But now I realised I have given 6 :12: :se: :al: :lt: :fi: :ch: :nl: and I enjoy very much the songs that I've given 10 and 8 as well. Not such a bad year for me afterall.

This year also feels open, and I'm always excited when it happens. Yes, I can see :at: and :se: as jury and televote winners, but not in a 2023 way. For the time being, I can't predict the winner.

I wouldn't say the year is that bad. Of course some NFs had disappointing choices that blurred the overall vision, but it's good to have a year in which there's no predefined runaway winner.

I personally would love to see :al: winning, they'll get my vote in both SF and final, just to move ESC east next year and try to have as many comebacks as possible.

No, ok, this year is definitely not good, but it's still quite better than what it supposed to be three weeks ago.

TBF, in recent years there was only one edition which was closed since the beginning, 2022 with :ua:. 2023 had one major favourite in :se:, but in the end it was a two-horses race with :fi:. And 2024 was really open, with :hr: being a favourite, but with a big bunch of outsiders which were plausible until the GF -nominally :il::fr::ua::ie: (and :ch: who in the end won).

This year we don't have any song that really stands out, but I see just FOUR countries with a real shot at winning. :se: and :at: are to me the major favourites, and their wins would be easier than the hypotetical Baby Lasagna win and the Nemo win respectively. :il: is definitely an outsider, but we have to see how will they be received by televote and juries and if their story will be the major story of ESC 2025 as it has been last year with devastating effects. And I wouldn't rule out :fr:, this song with the right staging could be a runaway jury winner since it's a different proposal from both Tattoo and The Code.

This year, the highs are truly high, with some real gems, but the lows... are unbelievably low. The bar isn't just in hell, it's in the hell of the next dimension over. It's undeniably a weak year, but the stark contrast between the best and worst songs makes it seem even worse than it actually is. That said, it could have been worse, imo. The national finals were weak overall, and they did the most damage.

Now that I've heard all the songs, this year is the worst lineup of songs for Eurovision since 2011.

Like every year you will get a few people that will say "this is the worst year of Eurovision songs," and it's always over-the-top nonsense, but this time they wouldn't even be lying. I don't even like 10 songs from this year, not even 10. 🤣

Australia is my fave (not a contender but it should be), Lithuania, Latvia, Albania, Austria, Czechia, and Germany. That's it.

At least the voting won't be as easily predictable for the fans this year.
And its so funny İ also think this year is very weak (since 2017 for me) and i didnt like even 10 songs, actually 8 or 9 but among them there is no country u mentioned 😂

A weak year? Well, yes, I guess. Out of the songs in the bookmakers' current top 10, I only care for two songs, and they're both joke entries: Sweden and Estonia. If I was sitting in my car, I wouldn't choose any of the other songs unless I was forced to do it. (And not even the live version of the Estonian song.)

The next on the list that I sort of like, are Malta and the UK.

The number of "traditional popsongs" is too low imo. And the ballads are quite bland - just like the last couple of years.

Why isn't every non-English song (or including the English songs for that matter) subtitled by default in the viewer's native language? I can understand why there isn't obligatory English subtitling (I think the French would protest), but in the current year I think some kind of solution should be possible. Whenever I watch the news and someone speaks a foreign language, Swedish subtitles appear by default lol. Should be forced by the contest rules

It's an interesting proposal, and I wonder if it would benefit songs in their own language. I could see it going either way because it would kill all-time bad Eurovision talking point "the message is more transmissible in English!!!" but it could backfire on songs like that because

I remember back in... 2009 (?) there was an option to see subtitled translations with the BBC as a red button feature or something like it. Tbh sometimes songs shouldn't be subtitled because the lyrics are trash, but then if a song is good enough they can get across the message, or allow the viewers to interpret it without the use of English or subtitles.

Also, on the topic of the quality of the year. Yeah. It's one of the worst for a number of years, easily. Even in my top 10 i've got songs I've rated higher, but I simply do not care about. I can count on one hand the amount of songs that have made it to my playlist, and in Spains case it's the BF cut, and not that revamp. I hope on stage things get better, which they usually do, but so much about this year is feeling like a downgrade. The graphics really set the tone.

Also, lets not forget the producers are changing how the qualifiers are announced. After the 2023 disaster that was swiftly ditched, i'm concerned.

Israel is going to go big with the televote again, less certain how juries will rate it.
