I am quite happy with Denmark now! The vocals and the performance will be better in May. I hope.
But the song itself is good!

I just noticed there were NO commercials...

Public channels don't usually have ad breaks. BBC doesn't either, they're banned from any advertising at all - even in songs they play etc.

"Excuse me, Mr. Rasmussen?"

"Yes?"

"I have something for you."

"What is it?"

"12 points, my friend with the pointy hat. Onward we sail to Lisbon. Chaaaaarge!!!"

Congrats Rasmussen! Too bad we Germans cannot send Fiddler on the Deck against this. Pirates vs Vikings - my money would be on the pirates.

I'm not sold by the song and the Viking staging. It looks and sounds so forced and plastic to me, just a pop song using ethnic elements as if they were fireworks. It's a no for me, but I reckon it might have more potential in the contest than the other two songs which I actually prefered. So, good luck Denmark anyway.

I like the genre and viking theme they're trying to incorporate to this song but it sounds TOO watered-down and unraw in order to reach the true charm of such music. Lordi in their time did it much much better. Danish language would elevate this song and it would sound at least more interesting.

Now I'm hearing this all the way through DEFINITELY the right decision Denmark! This performance has something really special about it I have no doubt it will be one of my favourites of 2018!

People love GoT, they love Vikings too. And the whole atmosphere of it is perfect, with the longship sails, outfits, lighting... perfect! xlove

I gave 10 points to Denmark, may well give 12 eventually! Good choice :D :dk:

Most of general public and straight viewers will eat this up, mark my words. At worst it could do like Latvia 2008.

Re: DENMARK 2018

Okay, so that's my first 10-pointer of the season xheya Easily the best Danish entry since Emmelie in my books, and probably my favourite song chosen for 2018 so far as well. It's certainly got its issues: Rasmussen's vocals can be shaky at the high and low ends, he needs a lot more confidence and energy to properly sell the song, and I'm pretty sure his backing vocals were prerecorded (they could be really hard to pull off effectively live at Eurovision).

If they manage to sort all that out, though, then there's a lot of potential here. Hoping for the best for Denmark this year!

Yeah, Fiddler on the Deck was robbed. Great entry.

I would say another disappointing choice, but it's Denmark doing Denmark as usual so I don't particularly care. Same old same old, with a different lick of paint to make people think they're going in a daring direction for a change when they are really not. If you're going to go down your viking, pirate whatever route (which is fine, I get that this is a very beloved thing for a lot of people due to fiction, tv shows and whatnot) then heck, at least make the song interesting. Go full blown with it. This sounds like it was snatched from some Danish boybands underwear drawer and some foot stomps were added for that authentic viking touch. To me it comes off as incredibly naff. Making so basic what is often a fun novelty just doesn't work for me. It's just high levels of dull. Woooooah oooooh ooooooh just deliver my coffin now. This falls so flat for me, which is a shame, as Rasmussen has nice hair and a glorious beard. At least I don't dislike the singer. Maybe in time i'll soften a bit, but for now this entry is a big no.

Ranking this.... It's not quite as bad as UK. I find it as empty as France so have my 3.
