That is exactly why I think this song is absolutely perfect for the Czechs this year. They have three years in a row go with decent ballads sung by stable singers and it has only worked once (and barely, thinking about getting 0 by televoters in the final 2016). Czech Republic must stop to put themselves in reverse to qualify, they need something completly different this time to even get noticed and I think Mikolas and "Lie To Me" is the perfect choice. If it fails, well, they got some recognition at least instead of an another ballad sung by a stable (often female) singer...

"Lie to Me" is the natural choice. It is pure fun. We all deserve a funky tune like that. Just deliver it, Czech Republic.

I think Lie to Me has the potential to give Czechia a good result especially in the grand final if the staginv can go all to plan.

I'm disappointed there is no song in Czech in this lineup. It'd be much much better than wonky lyrics in plain English imo.

"Lie To Me" is the only song I've heard so far, and I'm still on the fence about that one. For sure it'd be a radical change for Czechs given their past entries, and it would stand out for better or for worse, but I wish it were in Czech. I guess I'd like it better, because those lyrics are kinda distracting to me.

Not sure it would be guaranteed to work within the framework of the live performance either. Some songs are meant to remain "studio songs", and I'm afraid this could be the case here. If it wins, their delegation will have to pay extra attention to staging to make it work on tv: hopefully they'll prepare a solid presentation like "I Stand", no more "My Turn"-like empty space.

Anyway, as only Czechs and juries will have the final say, I wouldn't be surprised if a ballad act with strong vocals was voted in instead (like the "Margaret vs. Michal" situation).

I'm quite surprised, because I'm hyped up by the Czech Republic probably for the first time! The songs are modern, perhaps a bit too "radio-friendly", it would have been nice to have one different song in the bunch, but still you can see that they take this very seriously. High on love is clearly my favourite, I hope it goes to Lisbon, but there are a couple other choices that could make sense. I did a video reviewing the six songs here, with English subtitles:

Gonna give this song some much needed love. Shamelessly cheesy glam/classic rock, not usually my sort of thing but I can really get behind this

"Never Forget" 8 points
"Lie to Me" 6 points
"We Rule This World" 3 points
"High on Love" 3 points
"Fly" 2 points
"Stand Up" NUL points!

I quite like the song from Pavel Callta so I hope he is selected. I think Mikolas will probably win but it's not really my thing, though it's better than the other four!

1. Eva Buresova - Fly ... Something more interesting. I am quite fascinated by this, even if the lyrics are bad. It creates a strong atmosphere, has a hitting production and manages to do something different. Definetly a stand-out favourite for me.
2. Mikolas Josef - Lie To Me ... It stands out, they haven't done a bad job at all with what they were going for, but how I hate this kind of music...
3. Pavel Callta - Never Forget ... Quite good. Just not good enough...
4. Doctor Victor - Stand Up ... I appreciate the rock addition, but it's nothing special at all.
5. Debbi - High On Love ... I'd really, really love to leave DnB in the past forever. Very generic and random song to me.
6. Eddie Stoilow - We Rule This World ... Feels completely emotionless? Despite the emotion they're trying to portray? They could've done a lot with this song, but they went the most bland route.

The only entry that could really do well is probably indeed Mikolas... :lol:
