Dreamt of you last night
Woke up, you weren't there
Five nights in a row
Of dreams I've never shared

You come without a warning
Early in the morning
Timing's never been our thing
Leaving me with guilt
The only souvenir you bring

I'm with him and you're a secret treasure
He's devotion, you're a guilty pleasure
I'm with him and this is real life, honey
Guess the joke's no longer funny

I'm with him until the death do us part
But it doesn't do for this hungry heart
I'm with him, but in my frantic head
You always come and say:

"Would you run away?"
"Would you run away with me?"
"Would you run away?"
"Would you run away?"

One love is enough
That's all you ever get
Least that's what they tell you
Still, I can't forget

Eyes like burning ashes
Till the sunlight flashes
Can't be cold, but I've been taught
Captivated by the
Thunderstorm in which I'm caught

I'm with him and you're a secret treasure
He's devotion, you're a guilty pleasure
I'm with him and this is real life, honey
Guess the joke's no longer funny

I'm with him until the death do us part,
But it doesn't do for this hungry heart
I'm with him, but in my frantic head
You always come and say:

"Would you run away?" (Would you run away?)
"Would you run away with me?"
"Would you run away?" (Would you run away?)
"Would you run away?"

(Would you run away?)
In this real life, there's no way
In this real life, I have to say (Would you run away?)
In this real life, there's no way
In this real life

I'm with him and you're a secret treasure
He's devotion, you're a guilty pleasure
I'm with him and this is real life, honey
Guess the joke's no longer funny

I'm with him until the death do us part,
But it doesn't do for this hungry heart
I'm with him, but in my frantic head
You always come and say, say, say:

"Would you run away?" (Would you run away?)
"Would you run away with me?"
"Would you run away?" (Would you run away?)
"Would you run away?"

(Would you run away?)
In this real life, there's no way (Would you run away?)
In this real life, I have to say (Would you run away?)
In this real life, there's no way (Would you run away?)
In this real life

First impressions for each of the songs (and a thumb up emoji for everything that I liked):

Mila - Basically what I expected.

Mia N. - Not my thing. Too sugary and sweet for me. I´m scared that this might be the Roko Blažević trap this year.

Marko - A contender. I know that he is one of the favorites, but it still surprised me. Bonus for not being in English! (y)

Jessa - Repetitive lyrics aside, this is probably my favorite upbeat song of the selection. (y)

Zdenka - See Mila.

Tina - Might be the biggest letdown for me along with Negovetić. A slow song but without interesting and intriguing elements.

Roko - Its alright. Giving me "Pravila Igre" vibes. Pleasant overall. Maybe it will grow on me more on future listen.

Bernarda - See Mila and Zdenka. Weaker than "Colors" for me. I found that pop breakdown too messy.

Erik - I prefer "Reci mi". Both songs were just okay and nothing more but the last year one had more of an indie vibe which I prefer to this. Maybe its also "Reci mi" being in Croatian that I found it more interesting.

Toma - Props for trying a different style but its still not my thing. Just like Tina and Mia N., this ballad feels very generic.

Elis - Never in a million years would I think that Elis would subvert my expectations, but it actually happened. Miles ahead of her two previous attempts. Probably still not a contender and I´m scared of stage performance after what she did on Dora 2020.
But judging studio version only, you have my props. (y)

Ella - Like many others, yet again, its what I expected. This is an easy listen and I even prefer it over her previous attempt. Still, I think its nothing more than okay.

Tia - Nothing much to say except that I really enjoyed it. Very solid. Here is your like. (y)

Mia D. - Before listening, I thought Dimšić would have more of a cheesy entry than Negovetić. Ended up being the opposite. This was quite pleasant and even solid. I need to hear this again, but it definitely stands out to me among many others. (y)

"Marko Bošnjak - Moli za nas" is something I would be really happy about if it wins Dora this year. I like its built-up and the special effects of thunder after the 2nd verse/chorus without sounding too cheesy or formulaic. The arrangement sounds kinda fresh and Marko´s vocals are on point.

Bernada´s song is way worse than her last attempt.

"Guilty Pleasure" sounds more than alright. Very charming with a lovely hook but nothing to write home about either.

Not gonna lie - the rest sounds incredibly dated or lyrically-cheesy or forgettable.

I am pretty disappointed with the selection of songs. It's so rare, 3 NFs reveal in a row and I can't find one entry that I can get behind.
None of the returnees came back with a better song, which is disappointing.

The only bad song is Elis. The rest range from meh to alright.
I could deal with Mia's "Guilty Pleasure" winning, it has a pretty interesting melody.

Hopefully, the 'live' performances may change my mind. So far, not impressed.

Okay, I have listened to all entries and I can rank DORA 2022, based on studio versions like this:

1. Marko Bošnjak 10/10 - what a good dark ballad xbow
2. Elis Lovrić 10/10 - the same as for tghe previous one, it is even too scary at moments lma  I didn't understand some parts lol
3. Tina Vukov 10/10 - I neede few listenes to start really appreciating it, it is not instant, but composition brilliant! Vocals will be too, i guess :) Loved her "Il treno per Genova" so much xlove xheart
4. Zdenka Kovačiček 9/10 I expected 10/10 like the last time, but it is very close, it is not that edgy like her previous entry, maybe a bit too predictable, but I think with live she will make it 10/10 for me.. :D
5. Mia Negovetić 8/10 - positive surprise, first time I like her entry..
6. ToMa 7/10 - some elements are quite good, and vocals seem really strong, but it is not great
7. Mia Dimšić 6/10 - in the middle, okish
8. Mila Elegović 6/10 - the same as for the previous one
9. Tia 5/10 - average at best
10. Roko Vušković 4/10 really boring :(
11. Bernarda 4/10 duuh this si dull, worse than her previous entries..
12. Jessa 3/10 - this is extremely safe and boring that it hurts, I gave 3 just for not being horrible
13. Ella 3/10 this is extremely safe and boring that it hurts, I gave 3 just for not being horrible
14. Eric 3/10 this is extremely safe and boring that it hurts, I gave 3 just for not being horrible

One of these 3 dark ballads and I will be really satisfied..And of course Zdenka!!!xcookie xyaaay

Clear favourite here for me: Moli Za Nas from Marko Bosnjak. Most distinctive and sincere song. And also the one which I think would have the highest potential to get a good result. Good live vocals are key tho for this song (and his potential with the juries).

Maybe it wasnt the best time to listen through this selection... Being tired and exhausted from too much work.. But anyway, I just have given it a try. To be honest Moli Za Nas was the only song I kept playing for all three minutes. Not because I found it exceptional - but because none of the other songs managed to grab my attention.
I guess I should get a long nights sleep and try again during the weekend...:sleep:

Ella will bringing us another charismatic performance even though she a weaker song this time around. xheat

Watch her repeat her glorious performance last year where she is dressed with the wrong outfit for the song and looked like she's being forced to sing on stage.

Well, Croatia, just like their Yugoslav brother country Serbia, suffers from this "Eurovision mid 2000's syndrom", that's how many songs sound like. No risk, no edge.
The only song that grabbed my attention properly:
- Marko Bošnjak (btw, he is from Bosnia & Herzegovina  )

Ok:
- Bernarda: well, the first proper fast paced song I heard, has some chance after all this local radio stations ballads
- Ella: sounds very modern and decent, but this needs some staging, last year was bad and she had a very good song
- Mia Dimšić: cute.

That's it. :cautious:

Tumblr, mostly.
I don't think Dora '22 is great or anything. It's better than Germany and Denmark, but that's like saying 2 is a bigger number than 1.

Still, Croatia have a few entries that look promising. Bernarda coming through with the disco banger i wish Anna-Lisa had in Norway, Mia D's song is full of charm and I can even muster appreciation Marko for providing the best of the "let's build up a funky atmosphere and then do nothing with it" paenda ballads we've heard so far.

Oh and Elis and her song about Anal Sex or whatever massive ironic xheart

I don't think they can qualify (maybe with Mia D, but definitely not with Mia N. Negotevic more like Noneverjustretirebic amirite?)

Bosnia and Herzegovina buying Croatian mobile cards to vote, I see it, I see it, it's coming, it's coming 🤣

All songs are unoriginal and boring, I remember No war only because it is really different, and Moli za nas since Marko was wise enough to understand he can be different from the rest only if he stays true to himself.

I do like Dimsic's song, well put intriguing lyrics combined with the most boring generic pop haha, but I do respect the live instrument, smart production, and her sense for vocal dynamics.

Regardless of what I have just written, it's a NQ. 🤣

The songs are out! Because of trying to find the way out from the hell of the German thread, I didn't realize! Will listen and hope that there are some songs I like. So far, nothing earthbreaking though.

Really DORA? So many songs and none that grips me? This is a snoozefest, then I can also return to the German thread. They at least tortured us with ONLY 6 songs, foreseeing wisely we would get sick.
