OK so next year we are going to send a cheesy songie with mad coreography or something like that and it will push us in final eventually.....hah....it's all hillarious and I'll stop to take it seriously.....
I can see EVERYBODY are "clever" about this now when it is over........

Wel Croatia has done it, Celebrate - Daria 2011..and still failed. It's nothing against the genre itself.

I don't get this discussion over mediocre song. Personally I thought it would qualify because this semi was really weak, and today many of my friends told the performance was better than expected and they liked it unlike some screaming, screeching ones. I love the fact that we sent klapa only because we did something that was ours and I was really proud of it. Although everyone over here was prepared for another failure, so we're not that disappointed. The thing that bothers me more are the others that qualified with equally boring or even more boring performances and the songs that aren't anything more than a schlager or ballad or whatever it was. I liked Croatian songs that failed in the past 4 years (except for Celebrate)... LIKED not LOVED. That's the main problem with us. We're not standing out (except for Celebrate again but it was because of the amount of kitsch and trash on the stage)... I agree with doctormalisimo that it should've been more appealing to modern audience but I have no idea how it would have looked like. Anyway I'm ubersatisfied with our performance and I'm glad they did well. There's always next year. Vatroslav take a chill pill.

well, what to say?

for some reason i don't have the will or the strenght to analyse this objectively.
for now i will just scold myself for making a rookie mistake: i forgot my initial thoughts and gut feelings about all this. i managed to sort that problem with other countries but i failed at home (the thing is i'm usually right initially but later i crumble under various influences)

just 1 simple reason: don't think it will work in esc.

Clearly, the ex-yus didn't exchange any big points much , because one surely would have sailed through. At the same time, I bet that Estonia, Lithuania and UK gave ZERO to all the ex-yus in the semi. Just look at Estonia's voting in the semi of 2012.

I was right!!! :/ Estona nothing (not even the club song from Montenegro), same about UK, Lithuania gave 1 point to you. On top of that Slovenia gave you 2 points, Montenegro gave you 5. If they were 12's you would have gone through, just saying.

on one hand, i'm actually happy cause it is annoying and fake anyways but
on the other hand, ours fell apart while some other blocks were strong as always

Right, while we gave to Slovenia about 56% all of its votes! Really disappointing.
But just 5 pts from Montenegro.
And our other neighbour, Italy gave 10 points to Lithuania () and to us 0. While our song has Mediterranean sound and Italian production.

Statistics are statistics. They gave us just more than 5% of all our votes. So, relations of what Slovenia gave to us and what we gave to them 1:10 ()

Total disappointment. Italy - nil points to us...Slovenia 2. 2!!!!, Montenegro 5..... while Ukraine 6, Russia 4.... No.
Next year - I hope withdrawing.

Well, surely is bad thing. But as ex-Yu countries flopped because they didn't vote on neighbour basics (mostly) I'm sad that is reason they flopped. As others blocks (Scandinavia and ex-SSSR) were strong as always.
If our neighbours (especially Slovenia) voted more for us we could go in the final...
Of course that can't be main reason why we didn't qualify (if we have had better song we could easily be in, but...)

Two points from Slovenia makes me even more convinced that Croatia got shamelessly screwed over by the 'jury'. Moreover the Slovian broadcaster also ignored Lijepa Tena (Beautiful Tena) in 2009.

But according to Matt who was watching juries show they had similar problems as they had on first rehearsal that day and didn't sound good. I was hoping most for their vocals but they flopped in most important moment of whole the process...
