It ain't true. This style (klapa style of singing), if you didn't know my dear, is PROTECTED as an intangible world cultural heritage by UNESCO. From the last year. It really IS from here.
Enough said.

I'm really happy that this snooze entry didn't qualify... I thought It will but luckily I was wrong.
I hjope this is the end of Il Divo wannabes in ESC as it's proven that is not widly liked in the contest.

Il Divo wannabes??? What are you on about?? Klapa is protected by UNESCO, unlike those wannabe opera-poppers Il Divo which is the fakest band on earth...

Oh, instead we got other snooze-fests like the Russian ones through, dated cheese unattached to Russian music culture... perfect! So much for "We are one" and celebrating European diversity...

It really is sad that this is suppose to be Eurovision but to qualify you need to send a bland pop song written by Swedes in English or a cheese dated ballad also in English... the contest has gone beyond pointless by now.

Don't get me wrong. I mean that's what most of the audience would think because most of us have no idea what's Klapa, so It's easy to say "Oh this is like Il Divo"...unfair, yes...but It's like that.

I quote this again because It seems that people are too sensitive about small things... I also said that most of the viewers ignore what klapa is, just like me, yes we are ignorants and I apreciate that ESC teach me this kind of things...

But still the song was BORING and I'm glad that it didn't pass...I don't really care if it is UNESCO stuff ...yes yes I prefer Ireland's pop dance electronic whatever it is ... It doesn't make me worse of better than the others who prefered klapa.

As I've always said, you take it too seriously. I'm sick of people here lecturing me tbh 'oh if you don't like different styles/languages you shouldn't like ESC, go watch American Idol, etc, etc'. Each time I'm thinking in my head oh piss off! First of all I can like Eurovision for whatever reason I wish to like it for. I like pop/dance tracks in English, and I think entries like this are crap. Big deal! Clearly the voters agree with moi :D

We're ESC fans and you're spitting on the contest in an ESC fan forum... go figure

I think this failed because it wasnt modern enough. Don't get me wrong, I love folk music and would love to see more of it in ESC, but if you send a song in a style of music that only exists in your country and in your own language, what do you expect? This song would have qualified if they had some modern elements in it, say like guitar riffs or something, something that people outside Croatia can relate to. Ireland sent pure folk music in 2007 and deservedly came last because no one outside Ireland got it. Same happened here. I dont think your average televoter in Ireland, or Austria, or Belarus remembered this song after it finished because there's nothing in it that appealed to them. Fair enough, I applaud Croatia for sending something so different, and as much as I wish different meant good results in ESC, it was just too different for Europe. No one got it. It's sad but true, cheesy pop music like Ireland's or Belarus' entries, does well in Eurovision, old-fashioned, sweet, traditional folk music does not. Also, their performance was dreadful. The singing was decent, but there was virtually no eye contact or connection with the audience.

I loved Ireland 2007 and it didn't deserve to flop at all...

Well as long as dated cheese like Russia can make it, then the "not modern" argument fail... because it's not as if all the qualifiers were up-to-date and the actual most modern song this year (Montenegro) failed to qualify...

I must say though, you're partly right, a more uptempo klapa-style could have faired better... I said that initially aswell. But this deserved it by far more than some NOT modern cr*p that made it through though.

Yeah. I'm an ESC fan too and I'm telling you that you're spitting on Eurovision because you're so preoccupied with native languages that you're prepared to have crap going through into the final just because its not in English. Luckily most agree that that is a completely daft notion and extremely ludicrous!

I'm glad Croatia didn't make it last night.. I love the fact that they sent something local, but did it have to be that dull?

Perhaps you are right. I think Croatia can be proud of this song, outstanding of the mainstream of ESC. That this song didn´t qualify for the final doesn´t mean, that this song is bad. It´s a wonderful song with a wonderful melody and the singers were great yesterday.

Honestly It doesn't sound folk to me, but If you say so... It was boring and unpersonal act, lack of charisma and energy, what could you expect?

No, the non-interest for anything European is spitting on the very soul and concept of ESC... it's not just about the language bit... its the constant arrogance against every other country competing that is mind-blowing and really anti-ESC in its nature.

Oh, the biggest craps of semi 1 already got through (Russia, Lithuania & Belarus)... has nothing to do about the languages though...

Nah, this is largely untrue, sorry. We do not even know yet how viewers reacted to it (or are you referring to the god awful 'jurors'? Their mindset would suit your description rather well indeed). Croatia's entry is not authentic folk music and never was, it's a Klapa melody underlayed with a dated pop music instrumentation and harmonies. I maintain that sending a real Klapa song, which always are a cappella, might'f actually worked in their favour.
Ireland 2007 was a so-so composition (anything but representative of good Irish folk music) and had by far the worst performance of the night (plus an unfortunate draw that put it over the edge). Still it deserved to be a bit higher admittedly.
I agree about the performance though. The moving and so just didn't look good. :(
