I choose to keep my faith in Loic and Belgium this year; meaning NO RAP!
I dont mind some good rapping in a good song. But I think it is more difficult to make rap work in a live setting like ESC. I am not saying it is impossible though...

If it's part it's ok, but a whole rap song I don't see that working

I agree. But even only parts with rapping has a tendency to fail in the ESC live concept - the typical example that is already mentioned is Watch My Dance.
Last year Greece was one of my 3 favourites, but even I must admit that their studio version was way better than the live version. So the final result didnt come as a surprise to me.

That is also what I'm afraid for. If even a country like Greece (who normally scores well) can't do it good, we will end in the semi's

Well, as I said: I am still thinking that Loic is not presenting us a pure rap song. From what I have seen he is a great live performer with a powerful characteristic voice, lots of personality on stage and a great smile.... With the right song Belgium can go far.

Sim VikingTiger Watch My Dance was in the top 10, I wouldn't consider it a bad result. The song wasn't all rap either: there was a strong chorus and a decent staging. However, Greece is not Belgium so, yes rap is generally a trick in Eurovision, but if it's only one part of the song, that could work if the overall structure is strong and coherent.

As for Rise Up, I don't think rap was the reason Rise Up bombed: imo the song wasn't made for Eurovision (and even for live at all). It sounded like those dj songs that one can hear on the radio or in clubs but that don't work live because it's not meant to be performed. Ironically, had they withdraw the trampoline, the whole act would have been really boring and flat.

It sounds promising, but I really hope that there won't be to much rapping. But why would they send a great "the Voice"-contestant with a unique voice if the the song was full with rap? That would be really stupid.

EDIT: And what language is the rap in!?!? It sounds like "I'm gonna get that facial back"

Hello everyone,
As director at RTBF, I have colleagues who heard the song ... It's not rap, but a song in the style of Lorde.

Lorde style? sounds really promising

^ Trust me, it is just a matter of time that a song with rap-parts can even win. I mean who could believe that a rock song like Lordis would win in 2006 or a jazz song could come 2nd in 2011. Anything can happen I think! But of course it has to be a really good song for it, otherwise it will not happen, but I have a feeling we will get one soon in the next 5 years or so. ;)

Or an electro-swing song won in 2015 :)

Oh please, let's cross our finger to keep rap as far as possible xcrossed

Rap parts, Lorde style. Seems a bit disappointing to me. I expected a real dance uptempo song from Loïc. Give it to me please! xpray

I'm totally fine with the fact that it will be a Lorde-inspired song. But the fact that the beat sounds so alike "Royals" makes me not that happy... I hope it is more rnb-inspired, because the electric blips sounded as it could be so.
