Wow Mrm you are a fan of the iconic Belorussian soprano, Elena Sinyavskaya also? I had no idea. Isn't she just wonderful. "Via Lattea" is a life affirming song. I would like to see the prizewinning opera star back next year in the Belorussian selection with a song as epic as her last one, although I would prefer it if she were to be internally selected. I don't trust the Belorussian jury who placed her song this year in last position.

The auditions start at 19 of October and will end at 22 of the same month.
Alexander Rybak will be the songwriter.
The performer should be a woman, over 18, and also she should know singing a folk song.

Will it be an internal selection then?

I love that song, even in English! I just want to raise the fist to the sky and shout the chorus! I LOVE BELARUS! :D

I think because it sounded too... political. Almost like a slogan for Lukashenko. Sorry, I always think bad first :D

Well imo I think that she didn't qualify cause of the vocals. After all it was 9th in televoting, but juries put it in near the bottom

Yeah her vocals weren't the best. It did sound a little political, but we've had a lot of recent songs do well that have sounded political too.

Yes her vocals were poor but really I think the "I love Belarus" part is a massive put off for some people. I liked the song, but it had such unfortunate lyrics. Had it not had that one phrase in it then I'm sure it would have qualified.

Can she simply not be patriotic?

Yes of course, but people from the UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Greece etc were not going to understand that patriotism. Songs like that work on a national level but not an international level.
