xwhat I think his English is extremely good. Listening to him sing live, I wouldn't even know that he's not English. I can understand every single word he sings as well, despite his unusual, wild style of singing.

My Accent is the Same :D

sure you understand every word but he has a strong german accent, just does not sound nice and their music does not work without perfect english.

That's really strange as I honestly can't hear it when I listen. My two favourite artists ever are Nico (who is German) and Soap&Skin (Austrian). They both sing with incredibly strong accents. Maybe as i'm so used to their voices, i'm immune to Renato's accent? I'm listening to his latest album right now, trying to pick up any nuances of an accent, but i'm picking up absolutely nothing. Just a very unique voice.

I'd be interested to know if i'm the only one that can't hear Renato's German accent when he sings? I love the German accent anywayxheat German speakers singing in English make me swoonxlove

Like it or not Austria had an insanely successful entry last year, and anything they put forward in 2015 will struggle to come close to achieving what Conchita achieved.

I don't care for result, Rybak was the biggest winner in ESC ever, I still dislike his entry completely.. :)

Just wondering, what did he say?

He called Conchita a "faggotted cock- romanticist", that "needs to see a psychiatrist" and who had "nothing of an artist whatsoever". This coming from a man who got his main attention in the contest from the fact that he announced that he would touch is own balls during the performance. (as you remember, he didn't dare to finally).
He - the one who barely can sing a note in tune, the one who makes jokes on the level of a five year old - judges a great artist in this harsh and unfair way just to get attention for a new single (that flopped by the way). Is THAT a way to prove his own artistic quality, to insult others? Now THAT's what I call a cheap attention seeker.
When he first appeared on austrian stages, people thought he had an anarchic humor, but the fact is, he doesn't PLAY the retarded joke teller, he just is being himself on stage.
Oh yes, and I forgot: these insults are OF COURSE - NOT a sign of intolerance! (according to Alf, the "very tolerant person"). Stupidity and primitivity at its best!xpuke

Okay, lemme try. But my memories are kinda vague :'D

Celina Ann
Song 1: typical big ESC ballad, written with Sharon Vaughn
Song 2: more uptempo, soul-ish, written with some German composer

Dawa
Song 1: somewhat melancholic midtempo song with clapping and accordion
Song 2: a bit more uptempo with glockenspiel, both songs produced with Patrick Pulsinger

Zoe
Song 1: midtempo in German, composed with Julie Frost I think?
Song 2: Electro-swing in French, similar to 'Adieu', written together with her father

Makemakes
Song 1: Uptempo, rock-ish, retro
Song 2: Rock ballad, something between Elton John and Queen, written with Jimmy Harry

Johann Sebastian Bass
Song 1: Epic, very electronic
Song 2: Epic, both produced with I-Wolf

Folkshilfe
Song 1: Quite similar to their Round 1 song
Song 2: has English parts too, written with Julie Frost

do they all perform new songs? heart of stone would be the perfect entry, and i think it was only published in october.

I think, we have got a quite good choice of artists here. All depends on the song now. I'd love to see Zoe representing Austria with a french song!
I would have taken 10 finalists though to have even a broader variety in the final.
