First time I'm hearing his name. I liked his voice. In the worst-case scenario, song'll be above-average so can't really complain about Australia's choice while there's a lot to complain about other countries.

The first time I saw Guy was on the World Idol special back in 2003 - he finished in 7th place (1 place behind our winner, Ryan Malcolm). I really liked what I heard and I even voted for him a couple of times

I'm happy with the choice as I am a big fan of the X Factor Australia. Anyway, I thought the song was going to be announced today as well... I still don't understand how can it be possible that half of the songs have not been announced yet and there are only 10 days left 'till the deadline...

conwel97 I wouldn't have said no to "Mirage". It's not love for me on first listen but it sounds good. Hopefully Guy gives us something decent. I'm a little more hopeful now after seeing him perform at the piano.

In any case, he'll 'represent' Europe, as he has Portuguese roots :D :D So I accept very enthusiastically his choice :p ehehehe

Honestly, didn't know him... but hearing something like his last hit "Like a Drum", can say it can boom on European market, but dunno if he'll be able to win... btw, great entry Australia!

I don't get the "who is him?" question (is it correct?) (this is not referred to makkillottu but in general to many comments here and outside). 'Cause we can say the same for 99% of the singers in the Eurovision history.

I guess they thought that since this will be Australia's only participation they will go all out and get a real big name ignoring the fact that even the big names in Australia don't want to risk humiliation of possibly bombing.

After all there were a bunch of idiots out there (not on this forum I'm sure ;)) who were wasting money betting on Sia and Iggy

Also I don't recall that many or any at all male names being mentioned as what they want, they were all female. I can't help but think people might have been less "who is they" if it was a female singer. That's just the feeling I get

Well Guy Sebastian is pretty big in Australia. He is more known in Australia than the big majority of the other artists are in their respective country, so I don't know why so many people are whining with that.

Yes, you're right. But if we see his career he sold 3.5 millions of copies, he's got 8 albums on the australian album top ten and 51x platinum. For them he's a real big! :D

I have heard of him but don't know too much about him. It surprises me that they didn't pick a song, IMO it's always a gamble just picking an artist. But we shall see.

Re: AUSTRALIA 2015 - Guy Sebastian

From his latest album, there are 3 or 4 songs which are about Eurovision length, but only two of them were released after September 2014 - "Lightning" and "Animal In Me".

Both of them are ok..I guess..not amazing. But, I could see either of them doing reasonably well, in a pretty weak Eurovision year IMO.
