me too.hope they choose a decent song at least.the guy has a strong voice

Well, then he can take part in The Voice instead... none of the material I heard so far from this guy is any good, strong voice or not.

I think they mean they should play to his strengths. He has a good voice, so they should use it.

Re: ARMENIA 2013 - Gor Sujyan

I'm imagining some slow rock ballad, kind of Didrik Solli-Tangen meets Mor ve Otesi. Or a younger Eirikur Hauksson from 2007. Either way, not looking forward to it.

I think that this is a good choice. Dorians are quite a good band and Gor is a good singer.

However everything depends on the entry. I hope it won't disappoint me.

I know ;) I was just a bit sarcastic.

I mean I don't like his material so for me it doesn't matter if his voice is good or bad when his songs sucks. But hopefully it'll be a good entry.

Dorians is a decent rock band but if the song would be like a propaganda, then they sink(like it happened in Apricot Stone).
But if they really listen to their hearts, then we could see a good song. But this ''good song'' would be a rock-ballad for me :D

Why you think that Apricot Stone was propaganda?

In Turkish forums and sites, that was a big issue firstly. And Apricot Stone's lyrics sounded like propaganda to us,especially this part:
Now I see the northern stars
Shining brightly in the storm
And I’ve got an avatar
Of my love to keep me warm
Now I’m not afraid of violent winds
They may blow
They can’t win

May the winter stay away
From my harvest night and day
May God bless and keep my cherished fruit
Grow my tree up to the sky,
Once I waved my home goodbye
I just wanna go back to my roots

But this is just the Turkish point of view, these lyrics may sound different to you :)

Based on the fact Apricot Stone is a metaphoron of Armenia, this is what it means...

This is what we were told ! :D Otherwise, stone fruit would be a curious subject for a song !

And how did "Apricot Stone" sink? It ended up at #7, pretty good position.

Anyways can we stop with the politics? Turks and Azeris will always try to add some in the Armenian thread, and vice versa. We know the dispute already, and quite frankly Armenians have their right of concern aswell considering historical reasons...

Never the less, a song should be able to include some other things than just "love and dance". It might reference reality, but then what? It's just hypothetical. Propaganda? Nah...

Anyways... as for Gor/Dorians I'm skeptical ... I really don't like the choice so I hope the song will atleast be good.

From Turkish point of view you are probably right. I know that all today Eastern Anadolia was part of middle age Armenian Kingdom and maybe thats the reason why Turks think that Apricot Stone have propaganda lyrics.

Personally I like that song very much, cause that lyrics associated me on this Balkan area and recent history here

That's because you've been socialized from an early age to approach anything related to Armenia and Armenians with extreme mistrust and suspicion. I can do the same with your country's song from that very year:

"I could see that this could be fate
I could love you more than they hate
Doesn't matter who they will blame
We can beat them at their own game

See? You might not have thought of it that way, but if someone applies the same race-based paranoia, you end up with something completely different than what exists in real life.

Re: ARMENIA 2013

Disappointed. Tried listening to some of his stuff. Some of it's ok, but not great. I'm yet to hear anything that strikes me as having much ESC potential.

Also, just realised that he's one of the "stop the fire" guys from last year. Looking forward to when the Azerbaijanis descend on this thread.

why? Nevertheless, if you wonder, I do not know what to say here until I hear the song.
