Albania has simply the BEST package this year! The song is amazing, I don't get tired listening to it whereas many other songs fade this year quickly tbh! She has also such a great instant appeal on stage, everything fits! Hope they can surprise in May and get a great result! hredhredhred

The key for the jury is do Albania want it or not?.Will they put the money in for the staging etc, will they get the staging right?.This has huge potential for the visuals and the lighting.Beatrice looked amazing last night and controlled the stage. The swirling arms might be a hint towards ESC.I can honestly say i dont think any ESC song has taken me on a journey like this.I think its stunning. The EBU and stearing group are very very worried about losing the Balkans and Eastern countries from the contest, its damaging ESC,and there is no doubt an Albania win would be hugely positive in so many ways. There are several countries like France who really want to win,and will throw everything at the staging etc,and we have several big televote songs,Sweden,Finland, maybe even Israel and Estonia, but Albania might cut through. Its funny, but i could see this winning the jury or going close,if it did,it has a route to the trophy.
It needs to get everything right though, and how ESC works is the delegation might not want to win,but would love 3rd etc.
It could easily fall mid table, but there is that little chance everything falls right and its in that final three frame at the climax of the voting.
Now imagine the stress of that

Today it was :al: turn at the ESC kompakt songchecks 2025.

The verdict of the bloggers:

Benny - "Zjerm" is already one of the surprises of the season for me. Not only did the song emerge as an underdog in the Albanian Fik, but it also already has a kind of dark horse status for the Eurovision Song Contest in the bubble. How high can SE go in May? I think Albania has at least top 10 potential. The song is both extraordinary and catchy, and the performance will certainly stand out. I like all of this very much. :10:

Berenike - Luckily, there was no Albanian revamp this year! "Zjerm" is perfect just the way it is. It has something very unique about it and is a truly great blend of traditional and experimental. I find the unusual structure of the song, the electronic influences, and also the spoken word part very exciting. And Albanian is such an interesting language soundwise. :10:

Chris - Although the entry is considered a co-favorite in the bubble, I don't think that's realistic. It's an exciting song that combines ethnic elements with modern music and a touch of mysticism – but I'm missing the final 10% that would make it a true winner. :8:

Laureen - The first song from this year's Eurovision Song Contest on my Eurovision playlist, and I still love "Zjerm" a lot. SE has a great energy on stage, and I love Beatrice's iconic dance and her amazing charisma (she makes the song for me). I have high hopes that Albania will be a dark horse this year, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :12:

Rick - From the very beginning, "Zjerm" completely captivated me. The track has a truly unmistakable character, perfectly blending traditional ethnic sounds with the duo's urban style. The electronic undertone makes the song contemporary and recognizable. A bold and captivating contribution from Albania that will hopefully be a success in Basel. :10:

The points of the other bloggers:

Danio - :8: Douze Points - :5: Giulia - :5: Manu - :7: Max - :7: Peter - :8:

Why is this thread so dead? Okay, we're all just pretending we've forgotten about Zjerm in case we're disappointed come May 17th...

Interesting fact.

So, Iceland, Poland, Slovenia, San Marino, Croatia, Cyprus, Australia, Montenegro, Armenia, Lithuania, Malta, Georgia, Czechia, could also stand in the line.

• Altpop siren
• Clearly tops on the year
• But some of the more conventionally-minded portions of the fandom don't get you
• Way way way outsell at the London Eurovision Party to bring those fans on board
• Ride the wave to a surprise top 10 finish at Eurovision proper
• Pic unrelated

Can we stop pretending to call it "hype" when an entry got 2% winning chance on the betting odds?

That word has become so inflationary.
It's a well-received entry, for sure... but that's it.

It's faded on me a bit. Maybe it'll grow again for me when I see the SF

Its been much more hyped than the others that have 2% winning chances or higher (Belgium, Finland, Czech Republic, Estonia). So yeah, its been hyped by the fandom but it seems to have calmed down a bit at least.
