Why do the :al: entries always scream so much?

If you play all albanian entries from 2011 to now back to back they all have the same vibe and feel very outdated and uninspired. You can make a great scream compilation out of that material.
I know thats just how their festival is, But I just wish they would try something different.
Ill just reserve place 30-35 like always for albania and their diva scream ballads. 3 points

I actually like it a lot, not more than Ste fal of course but more than most ballads these past years, I think with a good revamp it can finish at the left hand side of the scoreboard!

I think it was obvious she would sing in English, but I have to say that I am absolutely sick of the reason always being "we want the message to be universal". Such a poor over used reason. Just admit that you will sing in English because you think your chances will be better. xfacepalm

Ashley's absolutely right, but I'd call the message "I'm not a talented enough performer to communicate the meaning of my song."

She clearly is talented enough. She just wants to sing in English. I have no problem with it as long as the accompanying arrangement is better.

Uff.... Definitely not my cup of tea. In my opinion this is Screaming with no Meaning...
English lyrics will not change that.

Quite a mystery how you'd communicate in a language very few outside Albania understand, talented or not. I'd expect it to be like communicate with your cat, but then again you and your cat know each other on a level you can't reach with Lindita unless you meet her. Personally I usually don't care much about the text, unless in a rare occasion it touch something inside me. But then the text is usually in Swedish. I can't expect Lindita to sing in Swedish so I'm pretty indifferent whether she sings in Albanian or English. To the average casual Eurovision viewer a song in Albanian would perhaps come across as somewhat weird, so an English text is probably more safe. Lindita also apparently have international ambitions so I think the question is pretty much settled beforehand.

No no no, the interesting thing here is no doubt the song production. How will it be? As I've said earlier I like the song and I think it have a huge potential. I also love what some people here call "screaming" vocals if it's done the right way. I've have no doubt Lindita will do it just perfect.

I understand people want more national languages in Eurovision but I don't think people should be too hard on Lindita. She did say the song was originally written in English and it was only changed to Albanian to compete in the NF. Plus she lives in the USA and she clearly wants to launch a international career.

Does anyone know if any of the other FiK contestants have had studio versions of their song released? There's quite a few I'd like to download.

It's tea time with Ashley xheart Preach x1000000

The lyrics in English are nowhere near as dreadful as I feared they could have been (after the Fairytale car crash), but unless one has a very special message that stands out from anything we are used to hearing in Eurovision (like 1944 for instance), I don't see the point of using the "communication" excuse either if it's to end up singing average lyrics. In that case, it's even preferable to keep it in a language that's not widely spoken imo, at least it would retain some kind of mystery and interest to non-speakers.

And when I think I naively believed Albanians would have been encouraged to showcase their language more often after the success of "Suus" in 2012. My, my  It also applies to Iceland that constantly switch to English while Icelandic makes their songs more special

Rant about language issue over. I won't spam the thread, I promise

Re: ALBANIA 2017 - Lindita Halimi - Botë

my stance on the language issue: i think it's silly to translate any song in an attempt to get more points specially after The Good News Of Jamala, but if this song really was originally composed in english then it's not as bad of a deal, even though i hope she keeps some of the albanian still. the english lyrics look pretty "not translated" too if that makes sense.
