Agreed, the 2014 selection process was way to elaborate and while I appreciate Eurovison enthusiasm...this was way too much and as Lithuania learned it the hard way, not very effective. Just stick to a few Semi Rounds with a Grand Final and remember that quality is more important than quantity.

If someone is interested - i talked to Donny (Donatas Montvydas) and he said that he will be back to Eurovision for sure, he is working with Swedish music producers now and will participate in the contest when he will have the song (really really good song) that could fight for top spots. So it could be 2015 or 2016

So? Portugal has been in ESC for 50 years and not won, Spain's last victory was 45 years ago, etc.

Portugal is always refusing to give us something what we like. They only Portugal entry I liked was in 2003 and it was horribly underrated because it was sang in Portuguese.
And although I love the sound of Portuguese language, their Eurovision songs are mostly poor. I have to albums of Michel Telo, whom I love to listen to.
As for Spain, they only do well with overly dramatic ballads. They should go bold and give us something fresh or they will succeed in winning the title of the longest period between two wins from Austria.
Lithuania often has fresh music, thinking of 2010, 2012 or this year, and I think they are also a fresh and modern country.

I am curious about what would happen if Lithuania tried internal selection, but their awful show this year got great ratings, so that probably isn't an option
They at least need to bring back a format where artists enter already committed to a song. Otherwise, it just encourages international composers to dump 10 of their throwaway songs that no performer would ever personally agree to represent. (Not to mention this year's format ended up choosing the only artist who dared to enter with her own song anyway, making the whole process rather pointless. Now please don't try it again.)

True (for the Swedish song part), but Donny Montell with a STRONG entry could be winner-material. The guys is one of the best looking dudes to ever have entered the ESC stage, he has got the stage presence and good live vocals, what he needs is a strong entry.
