Thank you to all who voted for ! I didn't expect to do well this edition, but I've always loved Rachel Stevens and this song so it's been a pleasure sending it
You pass it off as though every other member has a problem voting for awful songs... "What do you expect, it's WV?" what does that even mean? You essentially slag all of us off on a routine basis because you have a divergent taste from the rest of us. You'd get offended if the rest of us said things like "Oh look, Adel hates another winner, but it's Adel, what can we expect?" :?
Hey remember that time the guy from Nightwish won and everyone said things like "people don't know what congratulations means anymore" and the like?
EDIT: Subposting like that was wrong; I should give the right to respond. So AdelAdel and Stargazer where does the line exist between being courageous in standing up to a song that won and whining about things like Nightwish victories?
All I'm saying is that if you criticize a song you dislike, then you should accept others' right to criticize a song you like. Because up until now some of you think it's alright to criticize songs you dislike, but not alright to criticize songs you like. Feel free to criticize Nightwish winning, but don't get furious when others criticize Shakira winning
Great. Here's everything I said about Mr. Huolpainen, my 19th place in the final, winning: http://www.escunited.com/threads/14363-WV-DÜSSELDORF-56-GRAND-FINAL?p=1529600&viewfull=1#post1529600
And here's everything you said about people doing the same """"courageous"""" act that you did today: http://www.escunited.com/threads/14363-WV-DÜSSELDORF-56-GRAND-FINAL?p=1529627&viewfull=1#post1529627
I was disappointed with the response after that win too. But you lose the right to call what you did courageous by accusing other people of whining for doing exactly what you did.
Um... what? Yeah, it's the exactly same thought as I have now - some of you think it's okay only when it goes your way and I implied (then) and said out loud (now) that it goes both ways.
Since when can we not post our opinions and feelings about winning songs? I congratulated the winner, didn't I? Some people didn't do that when Thomas Holopainen won, they only let the forum know what a dreadful winner it was.Hey remember that time the guy from Nightwish won and everyone said things like "people don't know what congratulations means anymore" and the like?

How is it offensive? I never understood why people get so worked up over having their taste in things questioned. I already know the majority of WVers find the songs and genres I love (aka my taste) to be terrible, and should people point this out (which they do) it wouldn't phase me one bit. If you think a song is bad, terrible or crap and you say so out loud, then you've already criticized the taste of everyone who loves that song. It's inevitable. The thing is, you don't whine about the winning song, you whine about and criticise the taste of other WV members in general, which is so offensive.
If there is no one who wants to host the next Spin-off, I can do it
Reply With QuoteCongratulations Liza, it was an obvious winner, as much as it was when it won the main WV many editions ago. Nice song, I have to admit that I didn't give any points just because I wanted to praise more creative entries that I also liked, that's the case of Mamma Mia as well...but I like both songs.
Thank you all who voted for Spain
TBH I was quite disappointed with many song choices in this spin-off. It's sad that many associate their childhood just with regular pop songs. I expected to see more children songs, songs from children movies and so on... Oh well... Some were indeed great.
It's all about the nostalgia and fond memories associated with said 'regular pop songs' Rachel Stevens was my absolute favourite singer when I was 6, 7, 8 and I still absolutely love her to this day
