I wasn't particularly excited when I got "1980"~~
However going back to the 80s Taiwan was pretty fascinating.....particularly their music videos!!!3 I also found some amazingly beautiful songs, which I didn't expect....and now I'm stuck with tons of Incredible songs to choose from.... Awesome!
In the end I went with something unique, something different....and specifically something that represents Taiwan to the very core!
Strangely there's also this sense of pride when listening back - a feeling I find a tiny bit sad, cos of all those stunning songs that's been overlooked or even forgotten nowadays.....mostly it's probably more of a disappointment in myself for not truly appreciating the music of the past.....
After this process, I can say that I've come to love music even more, past and present!! >_<
I agree that New music should be innovative and original; however, it should also hold a piece of the past - not forgetting where it all originated and came from~ I think that's what a lot of songs today lack and overlook....thinking they can create something better, when music at it's core is not suppose to be competitive or compared; it's suppose to be loved, enjoyed and appreciated, right?
Anyways.....I'm looking forward to hear what you guys have discovered.....this should be a very interesting edition indeed! Not only is it a mixture of old and new songs that makes it special....but also to see what others find for the more recent years....I think that is also a challenge in itself - to pick out one song amongst so many new songs is pretty difficult.... >_< I am pretty excited now....
