I think both lyrics and melody should meet requirements to 'old song'.

I know that the song Vangelis is talking about was a very old poem, but the music was composed in 1984 by a band. So, it wasn't a song until 1984.

It's so hard to find evidence about most of these songs, it's true. I think traditional songs that their original version is unspecified are accepted, because most of them are surely older than 100 years

Thanks Foti! You explained exactly as I imagined what songs should be accepted here.
Of course for many of these songs it's hard to find evidence how exactly they are old, so it's fine with traditional songs which are obviously very old.
