What about Australia?

I initially thought of Australia, but apparently the general consensus is that Australia is a continent and not just an island. Personally I think this is incorrect, as the continent (in my opinion) is Australasia. Australia is the largest island nation within this "small" continent, but it isn't a continent in itself.

In my line of work, I look after touring products for a UK based tour operator with the sole remit of Australasia (mainly Australia and New Zealand for the UK market). But I guess for the purposes of this contest, we go by the definitions as defined by the host for the sake of fairness and consistency

For me the continent would be "Oceania" with Australia being the biggest country.

But apparently Australia is in fact considered a continent, so yeah... I guess that's what it is.

Not sure if I take part anyway. I could troll and join with Iceland

It's all down to interpretations. Oceania for me is a geographical region rather than a continent - a bit like Scandinavia or "the Americas". It may contain various countries or continents even, but it cannot be classed as a continent in itself.

Australia seems to be the most contested of these misnomers however, so no surprise that we are wondering how to classify it. Sure there will be enough other choices for people here though - plenty of island countries to go around
