Woooo Slovakia!

There have been so many surprises this World Cup. Maybe it's because it's being held in the Southern Hemisphere and all the previous traditions have been reversed. :p

Who knows, maybe Germany will lose on penalties!

BEST. WORLD. CUP. DAY. EVER!!!
Well, actually, best world cup ever! I loveloveloveloveLOVE to see the underrated teams shining through (as I believe I've mentioned 21937621 times)! And well, seeing both of last time's finalists coming bottom of the group is quite evilly delicious

And well, I can't hide my delight, we played thoroughly excellently today! Okada said before the match that there would be no uberdefending today, we were playing to win, and I'm sooo glad we followed through! After our first goal on foreign soil in this world cup, scoring 3 more was absolutely amazing!!! xgoddess
Kudos to Denmark though, by no means a weak team, and it made the match very enjoyable to watch, as there were many times when it got close. I'm sure you'll be fine for future tournaments! :D

My predictions are all failing btw, but who cares!! Let's carry on!

Should be a fun game! :p But I reckon Brazil will stick with 9 points...

North Korea have proved they can fight, so I think the goal is justified, but they'll still lose :p
DPRK version: Group G have proved they can fight, so their efforts are justified, but they've still lost, and the dear leader is most impressed with the record-breaking victories

A close match, but I want more favourites out dammit xD

Aehm, just because someone has turkish/polish etc ancestors doesn't make them less german.

With the exception of Cacau all of the players spend the majority of their lives in germany.

I don't care whether a player has Polish, Turkish or Martian roots as long as he plays good for the team he has chosen

Pity for Denmark, but Japan played very good last night. Deservedly qualified.

My prediction for today:

Cote D'Ivoire - North Korea 3:0
Spain - Chile 2:0
Switzerland - Honduras 1:1

Supporting -es -pt -ch and North Korea xcheer

Btw, I think Netherlands will advance a lot in this World Cup.

Just forget all about the Danish way to rock, this was the Danish way to suck.

This is the first time ever we get eliminated in the group-stage of a WC and we have been in quite a lot after all. What a negative record that was achieved today.

I'm simply lacking words to describe how dissapointed I am right now.

A lot of European countries really have to start from scratch and rebuild a new team (here thinking of Denmark, Greece, Italy, and France).

c'mon wasn't it you saying that you would be happy even if japan win and support them in the next stage?
if they won, they deserved it more, forget it now :)

I'm so afraid for tonight. If we don't win we'll be kicked out and we'll meet the best team in our group. But okay... if we wanna do something we have to win everyone... :?

I don't know what could happen in Spain tomorrow if we don't qualify. Maybe a common suicide, I don't know
I just hope Swizterland does not win and Spain and Chile qualify (but that's so difficult :( ). Not just for me, but for the good of football please!!! We don't deserve another little wanna be team which does not play at al in 1/8l!!!

(and now all the haters come to say all what they'd love we not qualifying  )

Predictions:

Brazil 1-1 Portugal
North Korea 1-2 Côte d'Ivoire
Chile 0-1 Spain
Switzerland 1-0 Honduras

Supporting PORTUGAL, "I DON'T CARE", HONDURAS

I think that foreign people should be allowed to play for national teams. The present rule is stupid that they have to be from that country.

Yeah, go Spain tonight! Pretty much the only European team left with a decent chance at winning the whole thing.
Surprises are fine once in a while, but I don't think I can survive any more of them. We've had enough already. I fear that Spain will not pass but I hope they will.

Oh and I think this was pretty interesting. A poll was made almost immediately after we were eliminated last night about which team to support now that we're out. The picture is pretty clear: Go our Southern Neighbours! Germany got 21% of the votes and is closely followed by Spain and Argentina in popularity. This is how it looks so far:

Germany 21%
Spain 17%
Argentina 17%
Brazil 7%
Japan 6%
Netherlands 6%
England 6%
USA 5%
Ghana 3%
Portugal 3%
Chile 3%
Uruguay 1%
South Korea 1%
Slovakia 1%
Mexico 1%
Switzerland 0%
Paraguay 0%

Look, if Spain can't win Chile (and lost from Switzerland) then Spain really shouldn't qualify.
But honestly speaking, Spain is in much better situation then Italy or France (don't expect their destiny to happen to u), ESP has a very stable coherent team and excellent quality players. I understand tension, but u should be much more relaxed then Chile, imagine how they feel today
Chile should be afraid, not Spain ;)

If England goes out and United States stay in, then I will be supporting my American borthers

As a German-american that would be the best case scenario for me

Not because I'm against england (cause I'm not) but since I want germany and the U.S. advance this would be fantastic!

Though I still have a feeling england may just win this one. It sucks to see two of the strongest time having to play each other this early...oh well!!!

So far the games turned out as I expected. I want now both Chile and Spain in the 1/8-final. I want Spain to meet with Brazil and eliminate them. Spain is under pressure, thats all. They deserve to go further, they play nice. They had a very convincing qualifying campaign along with the Netherlands and England, plus they impressed on their friendly games. 6-0 against Poland doesn't happen every day.

2-0 for Spain at the half. Great play for both teams so far. Congratulations Spain, you are on the right course. :D I have to say that the referee is horrible and damaged Chile. That "foul" or whatever it was, wasn't for a red card. He didn't even see Torres. And some other fouls in Spanish favour, I mean cmon.
The first goal by Villa was great. I couldn't help and laugh at that goal.

Honduras - Switzerland 0-0 so far. I hope it stays that way or maybe Honduras can push for a goal. I want Chile in!
