All men do is lie
Yup, and I might lie again when I say I have to postpone for one day. Had to switch my laptop today and everything is fucked up, because the sync didn´t work and I lost all my settings. I have access to the main systems, so I can sleep tonight without mental breakdowns, but I can´t receive e-mails, I lost a full day of work, shit like that. It's unacceptable for the job I have, I need to solve this asap. Would be very surprising if it takes more than a day, but some of this stuff I have done exactly once almost 4 years ago and my memory is not that good.

So yeah,

I had to work for about 5 hours today and as such didn't get to do any work on preparations. Tomorrow I'll be with friends, so yeah mess. I will extend the deadline for a day and results shall be moved to Wednesday.

I would have started the results show over an hour ago, but I have been deciding on what to do as I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm currently looking at a screen where my windows machine is logging the progress of its attempts to 'fix D:'. ETA: 126:11:09... For those who have never seen it, it means my hard disk has ran into a problem while busy doing some I/O and something has been corrupted. This might mean the whole disk has died, it might mean one file is corrupted, it might mean absolutely nothing, only way is to let the fix run its course and see afterwards. It will take hours, days, maybe even weeks given the size of the thing. I don't know.

Luckily I also have a Linux machine but there I only have very rudimentary tools for producing a results show and I can't access the prep I have. It's not a solution to redo everything. I have decided to wait for one night. Tomorrow I should be able to get back quite early from work and finish the prep if I get my D drive back. If not, well, text results. I'm sorry.

Hope your hard drive isn't RIP Uto xrose
Yeah same, there is quite some stuff on there that has some sentimental value at least. I would hate to see it die.

It's done. D drive seems to be alive and well. Well that was some scary shit.

EDIT: I did lose the prepared template I was going to use, think I might have never saved it before the computer crashed at some point during the day. But ok, it was probably convoluted as hell anyway. I had a plan B that I can do that doesn't take ages. We good.

Results tomorrow 21:30 CEST.

Happy to hear about the survival of the drive. :D My life is on my hard drives, and I've been close to losing it a couple of times too, I know how awful that feeling is. I should take more backups tbh.
