Yes guys! Your sight is not tricking you: we are having a freaking TIE as a top 2!

Thank you guys for unconsciously bringing drama until the end of this edition through your votes. I'm not sure we needed that, but we can't turn back the clock, can we?

Now that the scores are out, one has to be declared the winner. So both Erika and Indila left the greenroom and went to an empty hall to give a one-on-one three-round battle.

We're leaving WLSC for Street Fighter realness, since talent is not enough, let the kicks and punches speak. Of course, we are not promoting violence in this house, so this is a friendly fight. While I'm preparing the next post, check the real live footage below, you might find a clue about who will emerge victorious from this bizarre duel.

I can't see any of the images. Haven't looked again to spoil the show, but has anyone else had an issue with the images for the show? Might just be a Turkish WiFi issue. I'll catch up at some time I'm sure ;)
Imgur is blocked in Turk Telekom ISP, that might be the case :( I am using the built-in Opera VPN, too.

I will not keep you on tenterhooks much longer, the winner is...

TYBALTEVA!

-

Yes... As shocking as that may sound! Tybalteva wins again, and before you all use your white privilege to direct "Tybalteva = cheater" "Vikman robbed both in UMK and WLSC" and "Indila to the pyre" types of comments at me, let me explain why this is the outcome.

When I realised there was a tie, I thought of following without a second thought the rules of Eurovision that normally say in such cases the nations with the biggest sets of points should win the tie, so Moisantia was to be the winner since they received two sets of 12pts (from Belvist and Emsfrynt) whereas Tybalteva received one only (from Griffin Empire).

But just to be safe, I checked the NSC rules (which are more likely to apply to WLSC) and it turns out the rules are different. Here is the actual paragraph: "If two or more nations receive the same score and end up in a tied position in the results; if the position is essential for the outcome of the results, including the positions for winning (...), the tie has to be broken using the tie-breaker system as follows. Priority should be given after which nation’s entry received points from the higher amount of nations, with the one receiving points from the most nations given top priority. If there’s still a tie, meaning any of the nations involved in the tie received points from the same amount of nations, priority between the still-tied nations should be given after which nation’s entry received the most sets of points with the value of 12."

According to the rules, the primary criterion for tie-breaking is based on the number of voters each nation involved in the tie got, and the sets of points come second only if the amount of voters is the same. In this case, Moisantia received points from 13 nations whereas Tybalteva received votes from 16 nations, hence why the latter is given priority.

:( It sucks when it takes rule-digging to crown someone, but I believe everyone will understand the unusual situation led to it. Let me congratulate Gary nonetheless xkiss It all came down to the narrowest of margins tbh.

In the light of the rules, here is the corrected final ranking (since there was a tie between Emsfrynt and Szimbaya Kingdom too and T&D comes last as they missed the deadline):

1. TYBALTEVA 86 (16 voters)
2. MOISANTIA 86 (13 voters)
3. SOLENTOYA 83
4. BELVIST 67
5. ARKODRË 65
6. UTOPOLIS 64
7. ROSELAND 58
8. GRIFFIN EMPIRE 57
9. SVOBODNIA 56
10. EFFILAND 55
11. EMSFRYNT 52 (11 voters)
12. SZIMBAYA KINGDOM 52 (10 voters)
13. OUSSOU EMPIRE 49
14. TANOIRO 47
15. PYREICA 46
16. IL-BIDU 45
17. BIGICIA 42
18. KIMMYSTAN 36
19. NEW BANDER STATE 24
20. TAMAUSIA & DELTANNOR 32 (wasn't able to vote)

Finally, for your information please find the voting grid below, but refer to the ranking above for the placings as ScoreWiz does not allow me to change theirs.

Thank you for attending this live show guys!

Same tiebreaker as in ESC is used pretty much everywhere which is number of countries that had this country in their top 10.

Congratulations tuorem! I would say more, but phone is at 2% so it can dieany minute now.

Allow me one more post to thank you all guys for making this edition A DREAM for me, as a host organising this contest for the first time, it's been awesome.

Thank you to Kimrt for giving me advice and guidance about all this. xheart We ended up changing our plans halfway through the edition, but that's okay :D Thank you to the ones who helped me find some rare flags!

Thank you Uto for bringing the heat with the LL. You took my wishes into account and found nice videos as well ;)

Thank you to Ferret, the previous host :)

Thank you to Veliky who had to play my enemy on the spot! We have to make up with Kamandé soon!

And ultimately, thank you all for your kind words. I literally had zero expectations about victory, I just wanted not to be ashamed of my host entry and it seems you responded well to this disjointed quirky piece of music.

Right off the bat, I'll say I will not host the next edition because I feel like it's only fitting Moisantia would do it given the circumstances, if Gary is in the mood for it. And long live Erika Vikman! xheart

I hope you weren't bothered by the bad graphics and I pray the nonsense I've been posting daily entertained you a bit. I had lots of fun myself. :)

Thank you guys and see you in the next edition. Congratulations to the entire top 10 by the way! Have a great Saturday evening :giggle:

Ugh, that'll be the issue. I can't view the OM results either. :(

If anyone is able to upload to another image host (postimg.cc or imgbb.com probably best) then I'd really appreciate it xlove

Thing is I don't have my data roaming on, I'm using WiFi at my hotel (does Turk Telekom provide standard WiFi as well as mobile data connections?)

Congrats, tuorem, on your rightful win and Gary, on being so close to that - both songs are decent to be in the very top ;)

My special thanks to theCONWEL! You might have not voted but I am thankful for introducing such a wonderful song and artist, fell in love with your entry 😍

And I have to thank tuorem for this absolutely stunning, full of realistic detail hosting! It felt like a real song contest and I absolutely loved my stay in Gatineau! xup

Obviously, Utochki did a bad job of hosting... Again, the last place and this is a blow for a novice artist...
You people are very cruel!xcry

Thank you Tybalteva for the hospitality and Congratulations on the second victory in a row! xheat Too famous artists and songs,
we usually do not vote for this, but we made an exception because of the warm welcome and comfort! :giggle:

Yeah I'm at a loss to explain it. I mean it's a bit alternative, but I still expected it to be a solid mid table finisher. Has to be said that this was a pretty strong edition of WLSC, could well be that you were everyone's 11th song so to speak.
