Re: WLSC 175 in Rahasia-Diati / -the different side- / the show! / RESULTS TONIGHT (12/05) 22:30 CEST

Your entry had a good beat, but the lyrics were a bit underwhelming for my taste (I'm a bit strict with lyrics), so that's why I didn't vote for it.
Yeah, likewise, I found the lyrics to be extremely lackluster for "Touch Me (All Over)". Combined with the vocal performance that was severely void of charisma and fairly unexciting melodic progression, the entry fell flat to me. A decent beat alone wasn't enough to earn it any points for me.

While I've already been good friends with theditz for several years (he introduced me to this website in the first place) and know our taste in music generally goes pretty hand-in-hand, Moisantia's entry here came off to me as the most barebones song possible to check the right boxes to appeal to theditz's personal taste, in the same way "Worlds Away" resonates with me a lot more than the bulk of participants here thanks to its old school composition and vocal styling.

It's interesting you both look at it like that. I rarely pay full attention to the lyrical content and it takes a back seat. To me the music and singing is the most important part, and what I am seeing. The lyrics have to be absolute trash of the Earth for it to affect my opinion on a song. I however, really enjoyed Garys song, it had a great beat and was super catchy. The lyrics never crossed my mind for it.

Grats to Oussou Empire for the win and thx to Veronika for the great hosting. :)

2nd last for me, I guess that had to be expected with folk metal. Thx for the points to Bigicia, Kalos Metropolis, Nurdia, Svobodnia and especially New Bander State and Rahasia-Diati for the 12. xlove

Lyrics can be very important for me but usally not in a negative way. If I like a song musically, I don't like it less because the lyrics don't appeal to me (as long as they aren't really really terrible :D). But a song that I only find ok or nice otherwise can be greatly improved by good and meaningful lyrics.

A big part of the problem really was the singer's performance, which just solidified the track's emotionlessness when combined with already mediocre lyrics. Lyrics don't always have to be deep to work, but bad lyrics stick out more when the vocalist can't carry the piece through charisma alone.
