I think Alexander deserved to win it. 387 points, there's a reason for that. Even if we don't like him, his song is good.

Perhaps he did deserve to win, no one has said anything else. It's just that he and Fairytale got the highest amount of points in the history of Eurovision. That gives him a rather unique title, and personally I don't think he deserves it. Fairytale was good, but not that good. There are other songs I would have prefered to get that record instead, that's all.

And in opposition i think 2003, 2004 & 2006 were the best voting because all the good songs perform decently on the night were almost in the top 5/10 of the scoreboard, Turkey, Belgium, Sweden, Iceland, Spain all did well in 2003. Ukraine, Serbia, Cyprus, Albania, Sweden in 2004 & Finland, Ukraine, Russia, Bosnia, Sweden in 2006.

People are dissapointed with Azerbaijan winning the contest :( Was Azerbaijan less worthy to win than Dima Bilan or Lena? I doubt so

Well it has never happen that a lot of people like the esc winner.

Eurovision fans are sometimes stupid, they will never recognize their favorites sung badly or understand their absolut favorite wasn't love by Europe so you're always going to have a lot of people complaining about the winning entry, no matter where it comes from.

I think this year the general consensus is that's a modern song, decently sung, not amazing but good and that overall after a lot of great entries Azerbaijan deserves a victory.

But i don't think that in ten years you will show a lot of footage of that song in pre eurvision along Lordi, Abba or Dana International:p

No, I guess not. But you can prefer Germany 2010 over Azerbaijan 2011, can't you? That's my case anyway. I like Satellite more than Running Scared. And the main difference, to me, is also that Lena was kinda the obvious winner from the beginning - while we had several songs that could've won it this year. Many favourites which made it a more open race.

I did not like the outcome in 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2010. 2008 and 2002 were expectable nevertheless and in 2005 I was at least OK with the winner. 2010 remains left over.

This one is easily answered: 2008! None of the first ten was my fave and I think, Dima Blian was the worst ESC winner ever, SORRY! Russia's always had good songs, I even liked Bilan being 2nd in 2006 (good song!) but 2008 was horrible for me, I've never seen an ESC with that many bad songs!

I also think the same about Dima Bilan. I didn't like him as the winner but the 2nd-10th placers are probably fine with me.

I have truly hated all swedish entries for the last 15-20 years or so, but last year they surprised me with this amazing girl singing a great song that was not an Abba-wannabe on steroids. And she didn't even make it to the final. That's by far the most dissapointing moment I can come to think of.

Probably, I'm the only one who preferred such song over Popular. Anna was just adorable!

^^ I also preffered Anna over Eric but i think Sweden really created it's own image at eurovision. They won with Schalger only and they should stick to it, that's their formula.

Europe wants that kinds of song from Sweden and not anything else.

Note it's not a criticism; Sweden is probably with Serbia, Denmark & France my favorites NSC country, i only don't like their 2007 entry in their history, i just think that are responsible for their image and when they send a ballad like in 98 & 10, no matter how good it is, it's like shooting themselves in the feet. It's unfair but it's like that.

xyeah People aren't really impressed when Sweden sends something that's not associated with their typical entries.

@JackBauer Agree. Normally I support countries sending different kind of songs but the image of Sweden ruins such beautiful songs, good voices, nice singers. They should go on sending schlagers, reach to high places and we should go on whining about it. Let's don't break the chain

Yes, that's probably true. We have gotten bad results lately, when we have tried something else. Last times it really went well - except for this year, we had typical schlagers; Lena Philipsson in 2004 and Carola in 2005. So that's probably what we should send. The swedes love it, and clearly Europe as well. But then again, is schlager that popular in the contest today? I'm not sure about that.

I LOVE typical Schlager, and I'll tell you one thing, Eric Saade is not that. He was a pop singer.
If Sweden wanted to send their Abba-like schlager they should have sent Sanna Nielsen, Linda Bengtzing, or Jenny Silver. NOT Eric Saade.

I never said that Eric and Popular was schlager: "Last times it really went well - except for this year, we had typical schlagers." ;)

Italy's second place is enough for me to vote for 2011. I hate when people say everyone does not like jazz. In fact, I love that kind of music but to me, this is a present for Italy ,which is enough to get on my nerves. so voted for 2011 mainly because of Italy.

I know what you mean, I kinda feel the same way. Sure, Italy had a pretty decent song in my opinion and it's nice to see Italy return after 13 years. But as you said, Italy is not any country and when the italians makes a comeback on top of that, it's no question people will vote for them. Their 2nd place was a plain "welcome back" gift and nothing else. I can't see it differently. Ah, well... I'm still happy Italy did well, perhaps they'll come back next year. And that's what I want. It's afterall one of my favourite countries in the contest. :)
