I cheer for Växjö xcheer
Växsjö is only slightly larger than Luleå.

Again, do you want next year's artists, delegations and visitors to be bored out of their minds? Växsjö, Luleå and Västerås don't even have half of the necessary hotell rooms to accodomate an event such as Eurovision. Add to that the lack of restaurangs and entertainment and they lucky few who get accomodation will be bored out of their minds.

There's a reason why the only three options being discussed is Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö. Only foreigners or people who live in one of the minor cities would consider hosting Eurovision in a Swedish city that isn't a part of the Big Three.

Malmö is too dangerous. I have been told that there is a lot of crime.

But it's the twin city of Copenhagen, so I could visit two countries at once xcheer

You are lucky you have so many cities.... what should a country like San Marino do when it comes to hosting a Eurovision? Or FYROM? they have nowhere to go :D

I'm rooting for Malmö for the single selfish reason that it's just a bridge away from where I live.

Watching ESC live (for the first time) could never have been easier for me with Malmö as a host. I've been to both Malmö and Gothenburg quite a few times already and I love the vibe in these two cities. Malmö has the sort of a capital vibe that would do just fine for an event like ESC.

And then I'm probably one of the few that find an arena with 60.000 spectators for ESC to be completely overkill.

Eurovision deserves a stadium filled up with 60.000 people in there.

Haters gonna hate.

ESC has managed to do just fine with a smaller capacity while still being able to hold a lot of spectators and preserve some sort of intimacy in the arena. Just don't think it'd suit ESC, and that's nothing to do with hate at all.

My suggestion would be to increase the capacity in Malmö Arena and hold it there.

I said that for the haters in Europe about the contest. They always say "nobody watches that anymore, it's crap, we should stop that political contest, blah blah blah". if ESC is held in that stadium, it's gonna prove the contest still lives and gets better every year.

More cities across the world have flights to Stockholm than Malmö. There are also more flights to Stockholm than Malmö. To those who don't live near Malmö, Stockholm is by far the best choice, internationally speaking.

I really hope for Stockholm, but Malmö has a really great big arena, Göteborg to!

I'm saying it's gonna be Stockholm and Friends Arena! I'm sure about it.

Yeah! It can take up to 55.000 people during Melodifestivalen, so with a big stage it can have maybe, 40.000?

Malmö would be nice for the Danes and the German. I can also see many Dutch travelling to Malmö, it's not so far.

But hardly anybody responded to my suggestion for Lulea, in the newly built Facebook Center?? Why not there?

Because Luleå is too small a city to accomadate that many tourists.

Like for all the other small cities, lack of accomedations, lack of international travelling options, lack of entertainment. They do have an arena though but that is it unfortunatly.

Yes, that is a possibility. Friends Arena will also host the final of Melodifestivalen (March 9th 2013).

I wonder if they might consider doing MF somewhere else, if Swedbank/Friends Arena gets the ESC?

And, a bit OT, but has the ESC ever been hosted outdoors, or has a open-air arena ever been considered?

Why does it have to be one of the three? Why couldn't a smaller city, like Uppsala or Västeras host it? I'd like to see a smaller-scale, more environmentally-friendly event At a time when all of Europe is suffering economically, why can't the EBU be a little more in tune with the times. The ESC is too big, too bloated and, frankly, a bit obscene, much like the Olympics. Let's get back to something on a more human scale and let the music take centre-stage again, not all the razzamattaz, projection screens and pyrotechnics.
While I think it'd be best to host the show in one of the larger cities, I definitely agree with the bold part. I miss the small intimate stage and low-key performances.

I can't see any alternative to Friends Arena at all actually. I've read that Malmö worked to host it in their new Malmö Arena (about 15 000 during concerts), but since Sweden is one of the countries where the ESC is extremly popular, we could sell out 30 000 tickets/night making neither Malmö Arena or Scandinavium in Gothenburg (14 000) a possible option. One alternative may be the Stockholm Arena, which however is expected to be finished in July 2013, and will be able to carry 40 000 during concerts, but it sounds weird to me having the Swedish final in the flagship of venues and then using a smaller arena for the greatest events of them all.

My bet is for Solna and Friends Arena.

Yeah that would be a bit anti-climatic, really. You're right. Friends Arena would be the only logical choice.
