Well, we could always go for the Schalke Arena. There you have somewhere between 60000 and 70000 seats (indoors, if you wish).

I would prefer Munich myself. Just 1.5 hours with car from where I live. A bit oportunistic. Also the Olypiahall in Munich just gets renovated and should suit 15000 seats when it opens back up later this year.

Berlin would be the best, cause I always wanted to go there. And also Francfort or Düsseldorf, selfish reasons too :p

Sure, Gelsenkirchen has the best venue for such an event. But only for the final. The semis wouldn't adequately fill the arena.

Besides, the world excepts to be invited to Berlin, not - come on - Gelsenkirchen... Hamburg would also be reasonable enough a host city, but their arena is booked out already, whereas Berlin's isn't.

I'd be willing to bet big bucks on Berlin winning the prize. It's gonna be awesome. :)

Well, I don't know that much about different German cities, but it would be logical to hold it in Berlin since it is the capital and if they also have an arena that's not booked already, then I don't see why not. Especially since Germany hasn't won for so long, it's not like they hosted it there already few years ago.

Yeah, I know. And I was also only joking about Gelsenkirchen (although, the atmosphere in the final would be incredible if it would be totally filled). I actually went there some time for football matches. And besides the football matches, there isn't that much to do.

And honestly, I agree about Berlin. I think it would be the most interesting for the fans from other countries (although, Hamburg is a really nice city too) besides being our capital.

Munich is my favorite, for selfish reasons :D It's near where I live.

But it already hosted the contest in 1983, so I guess it won't stand a chance.

By the way, Berlin is basically out :( because the final of the German national football/soccer cup (DFB-Pokalfinale) takes place on the day of the ESC final in Berlin's Olympic Stadium.

Maybe the DFB (German Football Organisation) will postpone their final, but I doubt it. And postponing it by only some days or one week would not be enough, considering that the ESC is a huge event that occupies a stadium or a hall for several weeks.
And they probably won't postpone their final because of the ESC anyway.. football is still number 1 in Germany, even though this year's ESC got 15 million viewers (important football matches don't have much more), but that was simply an exception, in "normal" years the ESC is not as important as football in Germany.

So, there's still hope Hamburg is going to be the host city.....I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

But the arena in Hamburg is also blocked afaik. :?

And the problem with the football final is not basically the stadium (it would be to risky to do a outdoor-show anyway) but next year it's the ARD's turn to show the final on TV. And normally the final starts at 8 pm, so they couldn't show both football and ESC. But if the ZDF (or a private broadcast station) shows the final instead ARD could show the ESC.

There must be another venue in Berlin!! After all it is the capital city!!

Of course. The O2 World indoor arena is well-suited for the ESC. They recently at the MTV Awards there.

The Olympiastadion wouldn't be that great anyway, imo. Wanna see a semi-final in a half-empty stadium...? Less good accoustics, no roof... Obviously not the right venue.

Hamburg's pretty much out. Their major indoor arena isn't available.

Nobody's gonna take this away from Berlin, I predict. :)
