I was 17 years old and had literally just moved to a new (and very small) town with my family, but it was only my mom and I at the new house the first few weeks. Neither our computers nor our TV had arrived yet so we were none the wiser while it was actually happening.
I remember being out for a walk and just as I got back in, the phone rang and my dad told me that two planes had crashed into the WTC in New York and that the towers were going down. It just felt unreal to me, since I hadn't actually seen any of the footage. I still haven't seen all of the footage from that day, just snippets here and there.
